Kian had quit his job at the motel, after I got a raise and became the manager of the pier. The money involved was more than enough to pay for our shitty apartment's rent, now that Jenna had decided to move away with her long term boyfriend to California. No more arguing in the gaming booth for me, and thank god for that.
And now, I had an office.
Sure, it was small and compact, but it had a door that locked and Kian was more than happy about that feature.
Homophobic asshole after the next ridiculed and gaped at us kissing in the dark corner of the booth during my breaks, forcing us to think of it as something wrong, which it isn't. Grow the fuck up.
Matt was chatting up Jc, Kian's best friend from high school, strangely resembling the flirting I'd seen so often from Kian... directed at me.
Matt leaned against the pins, actually knocking one over. Jc clapped and dramatically handed him the big prize, earning some blushing on Matt's part. It looked awfully like Matt had a crush on Jc to me.
"Kian?" I asked, sitting on the bench with him while we both chomped down on our cotton candies.
"Hm?" he acknowledged with his mouth full.
I nodded to my old booth. "What's with them?"
"What? Jc and Matt? They're just friends if that's what you're thinking."
I scoffed. "Yeah, just like the friends that we were, cuddling each other's asses off in bed every night hiding it from your parents."
He rolled his eyes. "Oh come on, You know I couldn't exactly tell them I'd been bi this whole time! They've told me repeatedly they don't even think it exists. Do you know how hard that is for me?"
I kissed his cheek. "I'm sorry. I didn't even get the chance to come out to my dad, he caught me kiss one of my friends. I guess I was just jealous that you got to tell them."
He rest his head on my shoulder. "Don't be jealous, it's unhealthy. I know that eventually we're going to have to tell them, and maybe that'll be in a few weeks, months, or maybe it'll even be tomorrow. All I know is that I'm happy with you, I love you, and nothing else matters to me."
Just then, Jc stood on his toes and kissed Matt. Kian and I watched from the sidelines and I nudged him.
"Told ya so," I smirked.
He laughed. "Yeah, yeah..."
I looked around at my surroundings. I was in a new state, new town, new people. I loved every bit of it, and I never wanted anything to change that.
I guess I should have seen it coming.
