Echo and Narcissus

In the woods, where whispers weave,
My heart with sorrow grieves.
I repeat your words when you say you were great,
In hope to receive the love I always crave.

I watch you look down at rivers while avoiding the flowing stream,
Looking at the clear waters of crystalline,
And later on you spoke to the beauty of the pool,
I speak to you too so you don't look like a fool.

But my voice couldn't make you glance my way,
I can't call your name for my voice was taken away.
I tried to step close, but the more I faded away.
Oh how I despise fate's foul play.

I watch as you immerse yourself in nemesis's game,
Unfolding the prophecy of you discovering your face,
I let my name serve as an embrace,
However, the wind around us remained still and unfazed.

Day and night I look at you hopelessly,
Day and night you weave your doom's tapestry.

It pierce my heart that my scream was only whisper,
As we both were pulled down by the grim ripper.

Daffodil, I'm fading,
Dwinling in the woods with a sight forsaking.
A curse of penalty, caging,
Comes with love, menacing.

Unrequited, our tale of woe,
A love that blooms, but does not grow.
A love of echo in sound so low,
A silent rivalry with the water's glow.
