Now playing... Night We Met • Lord Huron "I don't know what I'm supposed to do, haunted by the ghost of you"

Rue startled by the sounds of sirens echoing outside, had woken her up. She got to her feet and walked out of her room to find Jay talking with an officer.
In what felt like time had stopped, everything around her stopped. She felt her breathing slow down. The flashing red and blue lights reflecting off the walls fade into blurs. Sounds of sirens fading into echos that carried pain. The voices of officers becoming inaudible.
Rue, covering her mouth with her hands, began to cry. The attempt to restrain the tears from falling wasn't enough to prevent the flood that was emerging rapidly.
Jay turned around to see Rue, eyes stained and red. He thanked the officer and ran over to Rue. Hugging her tightly, together they embraced each other. The sounds around them becoming inaudible, only their warmth from each other keeping them warm from the coldness of the night.
"Is it true?" Rue hardly whispered. Her soft breathing between each whimper, trying to hold in her tears from falling further.
"Is it really true? Jay? Is- Hee- is..."
Jay nodded slightly, as tears fell from his eyes and rolled down his cheeks. "I'm sorry" he cried softly, "I'm so sorry"
Heeseung had died that night. He had died in a car crash on his way back from his trip to the Han River. As reported by the police and first responders, he died of trauma and multiple internal and external injuries.
Police found that his phone had multiple missed calls from a number, that was found to be threats demanding Heeseung pay them.
They found many empty bottles in his car. Figuring Heeseung had taken a few drinks that night that caused him to not be in his right mind. And by choosing to drive back that night, he had taken the wrong course and crashed.
Rue couldn't comprehend the situation. Her first with the guy she had loved for years, was now her last kiss with him. She had never told him she loved him. Would that have stopped him from getting into an accident?
"Why? Why did it have to be him?" Rue cried harder into her brothers arms. "Why did Heeseung have to die?"
Jay couldn't find the answers. He didn't know why it had to be Heeseung. Why it had to be his best friend whom he always say as an older brother. He loved him, but he couldn't tell him once more. Or hug him once more. Or laugh with him once more.
He was gone.

"Remeber when, you would to come over and play video games with Jay? I remember watching silently from the staircase. Just watching you giggle and have fun. Just seeing your smile always made me smile, but nothing compared to the beautiful complexion the corners of your moth created. The way you flicked your hair back with your fingers whenever you'd get stressed.
To be honest, I never really listened to you much when you came to tutor me. I was always distracted by your profile. Haha, looking back I guess I was really obsessed.
I'm not much of a chocolate girl, I preferred vanilla. But when I found out you loved chocolate, I always ordered chocolate ice cream so we could have something in common.
When I found out about your past. I didn't feel sorry for you. I just wanted to protect you. Make sure no harm comes to you again and make sure you knew you were loved. I wanted you to know, that I loved you. I did, and I still do.
Ha, the night you passed, do you remember what the last thing you said to me was? "Sweet dreams" you said. "Sweet dreams" So now it's my turn, to let you know.
You pushed me to take risks, to try hard and follow what I believe in. You were the older brother who was always there for me and my brother. But, you were more than that. You were my first love.
And I'll never stop loving you. I love you, Heeseung. Forever, and always. Sweet dreams"
Rue kissed her fingers and planted them on Heeseung's grave stone. She smiled warmly and lifted herself up from the ground.
She turned around to face Jay and smiled. Together they walked side by side, hand in hand. Leaving Heeseung's grave, forever.
