MEGAN WASN'T GOING TO GIVE UP. She knew she couldn't—the Sekai Taikai was her one chance to prove herself not only to the rest of the dojo, but well, herself.

Karate had been a whirlwind for her with a lot of ups and downs and a lot of ego crushes. She wasn't naïve, she knew she wasn't as experienced as some of the others. But, that only meant she needed to work ten times harder.

As she stood under the moonlight, swigging her limbs with prestige precision and detail, all she could hear were the voices of those that told her she wasn't enough. All the way from her own father before he ran out to Silver and Kim when she was still under their control.

You and your goddamn sister ruined my life! Your mother is a fucking piece of work anyways.

I bet she's just like her sister. Once she cracks, all hell will break loose.

You're a traitor, Megan.

You act strong, but inside you're soft. Your feelings have made you weak.

You two disappoint me.

Megan lets out a large grunt, slamming her first into the punching bag with full force before she pulls back and begins to heave. Her breathing is shaky and she can't help but feel frightened and scared. Scared because she fears the Sekai Taikai might push her back to her old ways.

"Easy there, Tiger." Megan's head pops up at the calming sound of her boyfriend's voice as he approaches her. "Careful, you might break a knuckle or two."

Megan laughs lightly as moves toward her, his hand resting on her hip as he kisses her temple. "Sorry, I just got in my head."

Robby shakes his head. "Don't worry about it. I know how it is." Smiling at him, Megan moves her hair away from her sweaty forehead and stands back into her fighting position. "Hey, uh, why don't you call it a night?"
