Ross woke up to the sound of someone banging on the apartment door. "What the hell," he said as he sat up in the bed. There was a quick knock on his bedroom door before it opened.
"Man, Kayla's at the door. I need you to go get rid of her for me," Travis said to his best friend and roommate.
"You scared of her, dawg?" Ross said with a laugh as he swung his legs from the bed and slipped on his slides.
"No. I just don't want to deal with her. And you can get rid of her faster, so I can go be with Taylor and Michael before we have to be at the lawyer's office." Travis explained. Travis noticed that Kayla was in the comments on the last picture he posted on Instagram from a brand-new account. Every time he blocked her, she came back with another account. He didn't know how she kept finding email addresses to make account after account to harass him. Their last conversation was before the school year ended, almost two full months before he left for camp. He told her he wanted to end their situationship. He was done toying with her, and he wanted her to leave him alone. It was apparent when they spoke that she did not take that conversation lightly, given she showed up twice at his job in a span of two weeks following that talk.
"So you want me to get chewed out instead?" Ross asked, standing up. The sound of Kayla knocking on the door sounded again as if she was hitting the door harder than she had the first time.
"I know y'all are in there! Open this door!" Ross rubbed his forehead at the sound of Kayla's voice coming from the other side of the door.
"It's too early for this bullshit. I need to get to Taylor." Travis said as Ross shuffled past him. Travis said back, making sure he was out of the line of sight of the door. Travis leaned against the wall of the short hallway as Ross walked out into the main area of their apartment. Travis heard the chain for their door move about and then the door opening.
"Do you know how early in the morning it is?" Ross asked the woman.
"It's not that early. Why are y'all lazy asses still in bed? Where's Travis?" Kayla said all at once, trying to look around Ross's body to see more into the apartment.
"What if I said he isn't here?" Ross asked the woman, trying to push her backward with his body so that he could shut the door.
"I would say that you're lying. I see his car in his parking spot," Kayla said. "Why are you pushing me back? What are y'all hiding in there? A girl with a kid?"
"What are you talking about?" Ross asked, pretending to be confused by what she was talking about.
"Don't play stupid with me. I saw the Instagram pictures!" Kayla admitted.
"How? I know Travis blocked you a couple of months ago," Ross said.
"He did, and I made a new account. Why did he block me? It's not like we broke up or anything. He can't just ghost me. I know where he lives." Kayla said, crossing her arms across her chest.
"You are one delusional bitch. You two were never dating." Ross informed her. Kayla rolled her eyes. "You were an easy fuck. Why can't you get that through your head."
"Travis loved me. Why else would he keep coming back?" Kayle said, a slight grin on her face.
"Did you miss the part about you being an easy fuck?" Ross asked, giving her a confused look. "I can name about three of the homies that have had you. Shit, if I wanted you, I could have you."
"You wouldn't even be able to handle me, you may look like Travis, but you are no Travis," Kayla said, her cocky attitude shining through.
"You wanna bet?" Ross asked. Toss knew that she was down for his offer. He also knew this was going to be an easy way to get Travis out of the house without Kayla noticing.
"Yeah..." Kayla said.
"You know where my bedroom is," Ross told her, stepping to the side and letting her into the apartment.
Travis made his way into the bathroom quickly and listened to the footsteps of both Kayla and Ross pass the bathroom. He listened as the bedroom door closed and locked. Quickly, Travis went back to his bedroom and grabbed his phone, wallet, and car keys. He hurried down the short hallway and then out of the front door, closing and locking it behind him.
