"PLEASE, DAD!!! I PROMISE TO DO ANYTHING!!!" Ren kept his ears down as Cub loudly begged him to have a playdate with a friend. To say that Ren was against it would be an understatement. What if this kid found out what he and Cub are? What would happen then? "Kiddo, I told you, it's not a good idea. I know you are really close with your friends, but it's a risk, and a dangerous one at that..."
Cub pouted up at Ren, who did his best not to give in to the sad puppy eyes. But, Cub decided to play dirty. He let his ears, tail, and wings go completely limp and he was also seemingly starting to cry. Ren's ears fell as he let out a sigh-like groan. "Fine, fine. You can have this playdate, but you have to promise you'll be careful. Understood?" Cub quickly nodded, the act of almost crying immediately going away. "You can invite your friend and their parent over tomorrow, does that sound good?"
"YES!!" Ren sighed again, gently shaking his head as he turned back to what he was cooking. "What am I going to do with you, kiddo...?" Cub only hugged the taller wolf hybrid's leg, causing Ren to laugh a bit, "You're lucky you're adorable, you know that?" The Vex child giggled at his father. Ren only shook his head again as he finished up dinner.
-The Next Day-
Most of the day went on as usual. Well, as usual as it could be for hybrids. Ren got himself and Cub ready for their respective occupations. After dropping off Cub at the school, Ren went to the bakery to do his work, though while doing said work, Ren spotted that parent he had seen a few days prior. That same odd feeling came back, but he quickly shook his head and got back to work. Soon, he clocked out and went to pick up Cub. And while yes, he would be a few minutes early, it definitely helped with getting a semi-good spot in clear view of where Cub would be walking out of the school.
As Cub climbed into the car, Ren spoke up. "How was school, Kid?" Cub hummed, "It was ok. Scar said that he would get his dad to get him to our home." Ren nodded his head, letting out his own little hum as he thought. "Do either of them have any idea when they'll get there? OH! You gave your friend that note with the address, yes?" Cub paused as Ren made a slightly sharp turn because of another driver. "Scar said around five because he and his dad need to do a thing before coming over. And I did give him the address."
Once home, Cub went to quickly do his homework before going up to clean his room, which Ren decided would be a good idea for the whole house... As he finished up cleaning the living room and kitchen, there was a knock on the door. Cub practically bolted down the stairs to open the door. After a few seconds of the door opening, Ren heard the sounds of giggles and laughs coming from the two kids as Cub dragged his friend upstairs to his room.
Ren shook his head as he finally finished in the kitchen, walking out only to nearly jump out of his skin when he almost ran into the other kid's parent. "Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you. I didn't know if I was supposed to wait here or..." The taller man trailed off, seemingly pausing for a few seconds before clearing his throat. "Uhm, what's your name?" Ren sighed, "It's Ren Dog. And your name is..."
"Doc M. You can just call me Doc though." Ren hummed, very much not expecting this human to have the same name as his mate. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Doc! Would you like to sit down? Maybe have a drink?" Doc graciously accepted Ren's offer, the pair moving over to sit on the couch after Ren got them both some water.
The pair talk about random things for an hour or two. Soon, Cub and his friend, whose name is Scar, ran downstairs. "DAD!! DAD, DAD, DAD!!!" Doc hummed, slightly chuckling, as Scar tugged on his pant leg. "Hm? What is it, Scar?" The brunette started to ramble way too fast to even comprehend. After Doc gets Scar to slow down, the child tries to speak again. "Can me and Cub have a sleepover!? PPPLLLEEEEAAASSEEE!!!" Doc sighed before looking over at Ren. "Would that bother you? I'd rather not inconvenience you if you do have plans." Ren thought for a moment, giving Cub a slight glance. "I don't really mind. Though will you be staying over as well?"
"If it doesn't bother you." Ren shrugged, "Eh, yeah sure, I don't really mind. You both seem very nice. Though that means you both are eating whatever I'm making." Doc laughed a bit, slightly nodding his head. "A-alright noted!"
