It was several hours before I opened my eyes again. I woke up tangled in black sheets still undressed from the waist down. I could feel aches in my body, but I was alive. I blinked several more times to make sure the room was real.
I cannot believe he let me live.
It wasn't that I deserved to die, but Caroline and her friends had not exactly described this family as reasonable. I heard through their chatter that Elijah was honorable, but never Kol. In fact I had never heard anything about Kol.
I scanned around the room to make sure I was alone before standing up. He was gone, and I could take a moment to be greatful for the strange turn of events. I looked back down at the bed and could see the dark sheets were stained with blood. Hardly noticeable but there nontheless. I wondered if he chose so much black decor to hide the blood. In my own thoughts I had not even realized how much my leg was aching. I brushed my hand over my thigh. I could feel the marks where his teeth had been.
He literally ate and left.
I walked around to the foot of the bed to pick up my jeans shorts but they were gone. Instead, I found a long colorful maxi dress with a note on top. I grabbed the note and began to read.
Alexandra,
I decided it was not in my best interest to kill you. Freshen up and make your way out. The dress is to cover the bruising on your legs until you are home. I recommend trying to avoid my sister until you are out of the house, I swiped the dress from her.
-Kol M.I half smiled at the note. I thought of Kol trying to sneak into his sister's closet and grabbing the first dress he saw. A thousand year old vampire, but still having sibling fights. Caroline and I used to cat fight all the time before she turned, now we don't simply because I know she'd win.
I grabbed the dress and noticed an open door in the corner of the room. It thankfully lead to a private restroom. I walked to the mirror and looked at my appearance. My hair was a wreck, my mascara had smeared, and I had dark circles under my eyes. I didn't know whether it was iron deficiency or a hangover, either way I felt like I had been ran over by a bus.
A bus driven by such a handsome driver..
I shook the thought out of my head. I tended to get crushes kind of easy, and he was someone I could not like.
I shouldn't feel greatful because he didn't kill me. He should have never wanted to kill me to begin with..
I splashed some cold water on my face and wiped away my smeared mascara. I attempted to run my fingers through my hair to work out some knots, but it was a lost cause until I showered. I needed to get home.
I slipped on the maxi dress and made my way back to his bedroom. I made another look around for my shorts and found them slid underneath the bed. I grabbed them and checked my phone.
Mom called four times.. shit.
I also had two text from April asking what happened to me because she was my ride, and a text from Caroline telling me to quit making mom freak out. I decided to call my mom.
"Lexy, are you okay?", she sounded exasperated.
"Yeah mom, I'm okay. I was drinking and I fell asleep at April's".
"Alexandra! I have told you time and time again to be careful. Why do you insist on being my wild child? I was up half the night. I called the hospital!..".
I cut her off, "mom, it was a party. Everyone drinks. I did not go crazy. I did not feel safe driving and April asked me to sleepover. I am sorry for not letting you know".
