"This was a terrible idea. I am in hell".
I texted Kol furiously from the dressing room at the third boutique of the day.
"I'm sure it's not that bad. How hard can picking a dress be"?
He had no idea. It was going to be hard enough with just Rebekah and Caroline, but then Elena and Damon ended up tagging along. Caroline invited Elena and she of course had to bring one of her watch dogs. I had started to question which one she was even dating at this point.
Kol had been gone all week. He said he was taking care of some family business, but I didn't bother to question him. We had taken up texting to stay in contact. I found myself missing him a lot when he was not physically in front of me regardless of how much we talked.
I slid on the blue dress for the third time, and presented myself to the group. Caroline was one hundred percent pushing the blue dress. Elena started with pushing the blue one until Damon said the red was better, then she switched sides. I could see Caroline's visible annoyance with that, but I brushed it off. Rebekah informed them that both dresses were hideous and I should have went with a pink one I tried on at the second store. To say I was annoyed was an understatement.
"Honestly guys I don't think I like any-", but the group collectively hushed me so they could go back to arguing.
Damon looked annoyed. "I don't know why I am even here. This is stupid".
"Then leave", I snapped. "I don't want you here anyways"!
Elena looked at me with an upset face. "That was really rude Lex".
I threw my hands in the air. "I don't care if I'm being rude! You are all driving me insane"!
"Just pick the damn blue one", Caroline said rolling her eyes.
"Absolutely not, she looks like rubbish", Rebekah interjected.
I put my hands on my face in defeat and sat down on one of the stools. I was getting nowhere with any of them. Caroline could sense I was getting overwhelmed and came and put her hand on my back.
"I'm sorry Lex, I know this isn't really your thing. You're just so beautiful, and I thought it would be fun".
"I know Care", I said softly.
She tried to change the subject of the dress. "Did you decide who is gonna be your escort? I know Matt would if you asked even though he hates that stuff. But there is some cute single guys...".
I heared Rebekah scoff. "Obviously my brother Kol will be escorting her".
"Oh", Caroline said taking her hand off my shoulder, "I didn't realize you were still dating the psychotic asshole. I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering your best friend is the blonde blood slut".
I stood up and pushed past Caroline. "Kol and I aren't dating. We are.. complicated. I have no idea who is escorting me yet".
Rebekah rolled her eyes. "Well whatever you are, my brother will take the head off of anyone you try to take besides him. I recommend you cut out the middle man before he does something unhinged".
I knew Rebekah was right, but after insisting to Kol we were just friends it would be weird to ask him to be my date right?
"She doesn't have to take your brother Rebekah", Elena interjected. "Alex, whoever you want to take we can protect. You shouldn't be forced to deal with any of them".
"She's not forced to deal with any of us. I am her best friend, and he is her snog buddy, or whatever you wanna call it. She says they aren't dating but they're always talking, or snogging, or blood sharing or some other weird shit. You don't have to be so hostile Elena, it wasn't us who stabbed you in the back".
