Kol and I drove anxiously back to Mystic Falls. The sun was starting to set, but it was still relatively early in the day. Elena had called and asked for a truce, but I didn't trust it, and I didn't bother to hide my feelings about it from Kol.
"They're plotting something Kol!", I protested.
"I have no doubts they are darling..", he mumbled, looking at the road.
It didn't take to long before we were pulling up in front of my childhood home.
"Caroline hasn't answered me all day", I said softly before letting myself out of Kol's car.Kol raised an eyebrow. He wasn't used to us not talking anymore. It only further added to my suspicion that something was not right.
I let myself in the front door, noticing my mom's car was gone but Caroline's was home.
"Care?", I called out.
I was immediately met with the presence of the pretty blonde vampire."Alex? What are you doing here?", she asked, her eyes wide with surprise.
I crossed my arms. "You'd know if you answered your phone".
"Sorry Alex", she adverted her eyes. Something was going on with her.
Kol sensed it too. He was now lingering closely to me. His arms around my waist in a protective stance. He wanted to like my sister, but he was having a hard time trusting anyone closely connected with his siblings."Caroline, tell me what is going on. You are avoiding me. Why did Elena lore Kol here? Are they planning something?", I accused.
Caroline bit her lip before letting out a sigh. "I think they're going to try and dagger Kol", she relented.
I felt my breath hitch in my throat. Why? Why would my former friends harm my boyfriend? The love of my life."How do you know?", Kol demanded. "I gave you one task Caroline. To get your friends to back off for your sister's sake".
Caroline ran her fingers through her hair in frustration. She was avoiding looking at Kol.
"Look", she said with a sigh, "They aren't going to stop trying to get the cure. Bonnie and Taylor say they can unlink Alex from you. Once they do that, I can't control them. I begged them to lay off, but I think they plan to dagger you today.. I talked to your brother, he's in on it..".Kol let out a growl before stepping towards Caroline. He was filled with rage, not necessarily at her, but at the fact her friends were plotting his demise.
"Tell my bloody brother-", he started."Kol stop.", I interrupted. "Caroline isn't our messenger". I turned to face my sister. "The bind can't be broken. I saw the witch who confirmed it. Only the person's coven who casted it can break it. Kol wiped out that coven years ago".
"This is absolutely bollocks. I am going to see what the bloody doppleganger wants. I am surprising them early so Klaus won't be there". Kol gave me a quick kiss on my head before vamping out of the house. He didn't even give me time to protest. Which I would have.
Caroline's eyes went wide with realization. She remembered Jeremy's words, "we should just kill him". Bonnie and Taylor had lied to her. But why?
Her mind raced trying to figure out what the plan was. She knew Klaus didn't lie to her, after all, he had affection for her. Caroline suspected Klaus did think they were only daggering his brother. But Bonnie was supposed to be her best friend.. Except she was also Elena's best friend and hated her being a vampire.
"Oh my god", Caroline clamped her hand over her mouth. "They are planning on killing Kol. It's a trap".I was unable to find my voice. My boyfriend could only be killed by one thing. Is it possible they had it?
Of course it was possible. Kol was intelligent, but easily blinded by his emotions. It was more than possible they planned to trick him into giving it to them.
