I looked over at Amie laughing, god did it make me happy to finally see her smile. I then saw her get uncomfortable again, Jazzy had asked her something that wasn't making Amie feel comfortable. I knew she didn't know or trust girls like Jazzy, Lilah or Amber, it was hard enough. Even if we barely spoke. I knew. She was uncomfortable. I decided to text Lilah, to ensure she stayed happy and Jazzy wouldn't make Amie uncomfortable. I already tasted Lilah about yesterday and how Amie seemed uncomfortable with her surroundings and Jazzy and Cassie's... 'company'.

Lilah:

Me: Lilah make sure Jazzy doesn't make Amie uncomfortable. I thought I already asked you this last night.

Lilah: I don't control what other people do, Liam. But I'll try.

Me: Yeah, yeah. Whatever Li. Just make sure Amie is ok.

Li, a nickname I came up for Lilah is year 7. When we first met. At first it was a nickname, because she used to lie a lot. But over the years, I must admit, she became more honest. That's partially why we became friends. The other part is because has a secret admirer, Max. So I decided in order to get him his dream girl, I'll try being a good wingman for him.

It was now dinner time and Lilah stuck to her word. Amie seemed at rest. She was on the other side of the table, one seat away from being directly across from me, instead of her being across from me, it was an empt seat. Next to me, Lilah sat. Then when he came over, he sat where Amber was sitting and she sat in the empty seat across from me.
It wasn't long before I heard Amie's sweet giggle, I shot a glare over at Nate. Lilah looked at me. She bit her lower lip to try stop laughing. I softened my face and looked at Lilah.
"What?" I said, looking at her.
"I'm...sorry..." Lilah said in between laughs she couldn't stop herself. "But you're staring the new kid down because he made your 'not girlfriend' laugh." Lilah did air quotations over the 'not girlfriend' part.
I scoffed, "whatever."
"Dude, it's fine." Lilah looked at me, this time it looking like she was digging looking for an answer, then she got it, "don't think about trying to beat him up, you've already beaten up, damn, I don't know...I lost count now. But that's not the point, what the point is, that I'm trying to make is, you've beaten up so many boys, since year 7 just because they dared to look at Amie the wrong way." Lilah says to me. "But you still bullied-"
"Refused acquaintanceship." I interrupted, I'd rather put it like that. I'll admit I didn't want to accept I bullied her. She didn't deserve any of it. I know sometimes I was too harsh. I thought I got over her on year 10. But assuming how I've recently been feeling towards her, something tells me I've never stopped caring about her.
"However you want to put it, you still did it. Then you decided in year 10 you didn't care about her?" I was about to open my mouth. "Don't try to say that it was true, you didn't care about her." Lilah said, as I closed my mouth. She continued, "I saw how you looked at her, how you admired her everyday, said words just to her, just so she'd still look in your direction. But the think is you'd never take it too far. But in September, I actually believed you stopped caring for her after what you said."
I was shocked Lilah found out. Luckily the room was filled with different types of conversations so people couldn't overhear us, but we were quiet enough that Amie couldn't hear our conversation.
"You heard about that?" I asked Lilah.
"Yes." She nodded. "I felt so damn bad for the girl. But something has changed. Even if you don't want to admit it, you only said that because you felt like if you said nothing at all, you'd loose her, Amir's attention would float somewhere else, when you realized you loved her still, you wanted to make her see the real you. When Luke and Sam texted me saying you had gone insane I thought they meant you killed someone for Amie. I was relieved to find out it was actually because you had ask Amie to be 'friends'." What Lilah had just described felt like decades ago, but in reality it was just a month since then.
"I really don't want to fuck up." I say. Lilah looks at me for a split second before telling me something else.
"UCL" Lilah looks at me again.
"What?" I say in utter confusion.
"Amies dream college is UCL." That's where she's applying to.
"Thanks." I smile at Lilah, who just returns it.
