Valarie and Carl walked down the streets of Alex dirt pushing Judith in the stroller and observing all of the new townspeople doing their jobs. They had decided to let Carl help on supply runs and let Val help out with the kids since Deanna insisted her had a "mothers instinct"
"Do you think this place will work out?" Valarie mumbled to Carl who had a grin on his face
"Honestly, yes" he chuckled
The two kept walking until they heard 2 woman giggling and pointing at Judith like she was a hot middle school boy from the porch they were passing
"Oh my goodness! Bring her here hon" they ushered at Valarie who was unclipping the baby out of the stroller
Carl stood behind them in a protective manner as the woman practically pulled Judith from Valaries arms
They babbled on and on about the baby
"oh my, she's gorgeous " they said as Judith started crying and screaming and reaching for Valarie
"aw come here baby" Valarie said taking Judith and rubbing her back soothingly. Carls heart warmed at the sight of Valarie swaying her body with Judith and talking to the woman at the same time
"Kids!" They turned around to a panicked Rick approaching them
"Dad, what's wrong" he said as Rick came up to them "I thought y'all were gone" he breathed out with a chuckle
"Sorry for keeping them, we just haven't seen a baby in years!" The girl, Joanne said as Rick just waved his hand signaling that it was fine
"Carl, Glenn's about to go to a gas station a few miles away if you want to tag along and Valarie, Jessie said to meet her at her house about your job" he said as Carl grinned even wider at the fact he got to go on a run "and Deanna's hosting a welcoming party that you have to go to, so please be back at the house by 4" Rick said
"Alright I'll see you later guys" she said, letting Carl and Rick say goodbye to Judith "be safe Carl" she finished, walking off to the big White House.
Judith was starting to form words now but all she could say for now was "dada" and "Carl" but she couldn't quite say her Ls yet so it sounded wonky. She started calling Valarie "Ree" because it was the easiest thing to say.
