in the days that followed, jung wooyoung never crossed paths with choi san.
ji-eun and him had been preoccupied with the important things—finding their target and gathering information by any means necessary, as quickly and efficiently as possible, to ensure that their permanent exit from the world of romance was not delayed. the entire procedure was tricky—they had no information about their target, not even his name. they only had a poor sketch and a signal on his burner phone, which they'd lost after he entered the romance zone.
ji-eun, who had the motivation and energy to complete more difficult tasks, decided to take on the more difficult ventures. she did her nightly stakeouts in the romance zone and spent the dull mornings running around the action zone looking for their target, or anyone who could help them find him. according to her, the days and nights in the romance and action zones were reversed, with the sun setting in one and rising in the other.
that caused wooyoung to wonder for a moment. choi san had followed him all the way to seraphine's palace before refusing to return to his world because it was 'way past curfew time'. if it was night in the action zone, wouldn't it have been morning in choi san's world?
if wooyoung had given a shit about choi san, his intentions, and whereabouts, he would have thought about this situation for a little longer. but, alas, he couldn't care less about a man as weird as san. doing strange things seemed to come naturally to people like him, so it would be a waste of time for wooyoung to spend minutes, if not seconds, wondering why choi san was the way he was. as a result, the idea of it, as well as the memory of him, vanished as quickly as when he walked into a room and forgot why he was there in the first place.
wooyoung was responsible for the technical aspects of their dramatic mission. this involved performing digital checks on their target using all of the information ji-eun had gathered. wooyoung spent hours hunched over his comically oversized computer setup in the super-suspicious room of his flat, piecing together the fragmented information they had on the mysterious man.
while ji-eun was running her legs off, wooyoung was running his fingers across the keyboard—usually, wooyoung would've complained because screenwork was ten times more difficult because it required efficiency and intelligence, but the idea of roaming around romance-world for extended hours of time seemed even more terrifying. and he decided to leave all the terrifying work to ji-eun, who was hesitant, but accepting.
days turned into nights, and nights became days. wooyoung hardly slept, ate, or left his apartment. he was obsessed with finding this man and would not stop until he did. finally, on another uneventful night, wooyoung saw ji-eun's face again when she burst through the doors of his extremely suspicious room, beaming with eagerness and excitement.
"wooyoung!" she exclaimed. her hair was a mess, with strands separating and falling over her face. "i found him. i found him!"
wooyoung abruptly stood up as soon as the words reached his ears, sending his rolling chair screeching back until it collided with the wall. "you did?!" he gasped, his eyes widening. "where is he?!"
