morning came slowly to the world of nexus, chasing away the darkness that had seemed to stretch endlessly through the night. it was a night where the hours felt like days, where the quiet weighed heavily on the world as if it were holding its breath, waiting for something to change.
when the first light of dawn finally broke through, it brought with it a gentle warmth, signalling the start of a new day. wooyoung, who should have been returning from a night spent working, patrolling the streets, or engaging in some adrenaline-pumping action, was instead fast asleep in bed.
his usual routine of being alert and on the move at this time was replaced by the rare luxury of rest. it was an unusual sight, but it would have been unthinkable for him to leave san alone today—especially after the emotional whirlwind they'd weathered the night before. today, san was more fragile than ever, his emotions laid bare, and he needed wooyoung's reassurance more than anything else.
and wooyoung would be lying if he said he understood how or why his simple words of reassurance and a hug had been enough to dispel san's insecurities, which seemed to resurface repeatedly like stubborn weeds in a garden. those insecurities were relentless, popping up again and again, no matter how often they were addressed.
wooyoung, too, had his moments of doubt when it came to their relationship.
there were times when he questioned whether he was doing enough, whether he was making san happy, whether he was capable of navigating the complex emotions that came with romance. he was a novice in this field, far more comfortable with combat strategies than with the delicate dance of love.
yet, while both he and san were nearly as clueless as each other in matters of the heart, wooyoung didn't let his doubts consume him. his uncertainties only fuelled his determination to be better, to learn, to adapt. he wanted to become the person san needed—the person who could make san's world brighter, not darker.
san, on the other hand, was like a delicate flower when it came to their relationship— easily bruised. his insecurities were like creeping vines, slowly wrapping themselves around the image he had of their relationship until it became distorted and obscured.
but over time, wooyoung began to understand the differences in how they each dealt with their doubts. san's fragility wasn't a flaw; it was simply another way of coping. it was okay for wooyoung to be determined, just as it was okay for san to be fragile. if words and hugs were what san needed to feel secure, then wooyoung would gladly offer them, again and again, until san's confidence was fully restored.
as wooyoung slowly opened his eyes, the first thing he noticed was how his limbs were carelessly draped over san's body in a manner that could only be described as untidy. his arm was flung across san's chest, his leg tangled with san's, and their heads were sharing the same pillow, making for a rather chaotic sight.
wooyoung groaned softly, feeling the weight of sleep still lingering in his system as he sat up and rubbed his eyes. his hands eventually fell to his lap, and he turned to look at san, who was still fast asleep beside him.
