san's heart was a mess. an absolute, chaotic, ridiculous mess!

he had taken the biggest jump of his life, risked everything by asking wooyoung to go on dates with him. but did he expect wooyoung to agree?! no! absolutely not! he had prepared himself for rejection, for being told off, maybe even for a slap on the wrist. but not for this!

dates. he'd asked him out on dates. actual dates, with wooyoung. and he didn't say no?! he didn't laugh in his face?! he didn't call him crazy?!

san flopped onto his bed, clutching his pillow as if it contained all the answers. he was initially ecstatic about this. then, realisation set in. how was he going to plan seven dates? what if wooyoung still didn't have feelings for him at the end of their deal? seven dates were enough to cause san to fall so deeply in love that he could never recover, so this was only bad news!

it didn't even occur to him that wooyoung had literally only accepted because he thought he owed san something. honestly, san was already aware of this, so the thought didn't even really need to occur to him. what was funny was that he didn't seem to care about it.

what on earth do people do on dates with brooding action heroes? san grabbed his phone, pulling up a search engine. he typed frantically. the results were less than helpful. dinner and a movie? he couldn't imagine wooyoung sitting through a rom-com. coffee shop? maybe, but wasn't that too...normal? museum? library? concert?

"since when was dating so hard?!" he groaned, tossing his phone aside. his mind drifted back to the way wooyoung had looked at him when he agreed. there had been a flicker of something in his eyes—curiosity, maybe? or confusion?

san's brain raced through potential disaster scenarios. what if wooyoung hated everything he planned? what if he found the dates boring? what if, halfway through, wooyoung decided he had enough and walked out? what if... san didn't even want to think about the worst-case scenarios anymore.

he jumped up from his bed and turned on his lamp, pacing the room like a man possessed. he opened his closet, staring at his clothes as if they held the secret to his success. "do i dress up? do i dress down? casual? formal? what does wooyoung even like?!"

he imagined himself showing up in a tuxedo for a casual coffee date and cringed. no, no, too much. he threw a pair of jeans on the bed. these? he held up a bright, floral shirt. this?

san collapsed back onto his bed, feeling utterly defeated. how did people make this look so easy in romance dramas? they just met, clicked, and everything fell into place. real life was a disaster in comparison. he was a disaster in comparison. he grabbed his phone again, desperately searching for date tips. be yourself, they all said. show genuine interest. well, that was easy for them to say. they weren't planning dates with the most complex, mysterious man on the planet.

before he could complain and make his problems everyone else's problem, he received a pillow to the face.

"can you keep it down?!" seonghwa, his flatmate and rival in the battle of endgame (also known as the war over who would end up with hwayoung), yelled from his side of the room.
