~Reader’s POV~

I'd be lying if I said that what Loki had done for me yesterday didn't help at all, but it really did. It was the day of the ball and my ankle still hurt, I was still limping. It was going to be a long and hard day, I got out of bed which always felt like heaven to sleep on. I walk into the living space which didn't look at all much lived in and head to look out over Asgard, it was beautiful but the idea of being their princess scared me to the core. I hear the door open and close so I turn to see my maid and offer a smile.

"Good morning Y/n." I smile.

"Morning, Loira." She smiles back before making her way over to my wardrobe, I just stay where I'm stood.

"Loira?" She hums in response to me.

"How busy does royal life get here?" She thinks for a moment.

"Sometimes it can be busy, other times not so much. But don't worry, it's not as bad and scary as you may think. Now this morning you will be going to try on some gowns the queen has lined up for you for tonight." She rummages through my every day clothing and pulls out my easiest pair of blouse and trousers to get on and off, I smile that she understood me so easily.

"Get dressed and the Queen will be waiting for you in the boutique room, don't worry there is an array of food there to eat for breakfast. Lady Jane will be joining you since she is courting Prince Thor." I go over to the clothes she had laid out for me and put on a smile.

"Okay, thank you Loira. I'll take it from here." She smiles before exiting the room and I start getting dressed and bandage my foot back up, once ready and my hair was tied up I leave from my room just at the same time Loki leaves his. I ignore his presence and begin walking in the direction of boutique room, Loki walks the same way and as I continue this way I feel an arm link with mine and I look to see Jane with a smile.

"Good morning." I smile back.

"Morning."

"Is it not a good morning?" I look over to her.

"Every day I'm here is just a morning, but I don't hate it." She nods at my words as we continue on our way.

"Well, we're about to make it a good morning. Nothing beats a good morning trying on elegant dresses." I roll my eyes earning a light slap from Jane.

"I saw that, trying on dresses isn't that bad. You've never been given a choice on what dress you're wearing before but today you do, and we can spend all day looking for the right one that makes you happy and comfortable." I scoff and quickly dodge her slap on the head with a smirk.

"Good luck trying to find one, it's impossible." She sighs as we reach the boutique.

"She's right, she is impossible." We both glance to Loki who offers his trade mark smile.

"Funny Loki, just go about your day. I won't bother you or your self pity." He rolls his eyes but does leave and me and Jane enter the boutique where Friga was waiting.

"Morning you two, let's get started shall we. Now tonight is important for Y/n and Loki, so let's focus on finding a dress because I have a feeling it will take a while." I sigh, it was going to be a long long day. Friga and Jane collected all the dresses they liked and made me go try them on, all of them were big and grande. Way too much for me but they liked them all, except we all agreed something was missing.

"It's been a few hours, can I take a break?" They glance to one another and just smile.

"Of course, we'll get ourselves sorted while you're gone but be back for lunch." I nod and leave the room, I beeline straight for the library where I enter expecting to be alone but of course Loki was there. Letting him be I go to find a book and once I do I make my way to the sofa and begin reading, without a word Loki sits at the end of where my feet were resting them on his lap and removes my boot and the bandage.

"You don't have to-"

"I'd like to, now be quiet." I shut up and go back to my book expecting him to just hold my ankle like yesterday, but he doesn't instead he takes both hands and starts to gently apply pressure all over my ankle. I had no idea why he was trying to help my ankle but I wasn't going to stop him, it was nice but he was being kind. It was freaking me out. He suddenly stops.

"You're so frustrating." I look at him confused.

"Excuse me?" He removed his hands but doesn't move.

"You're frustrating." I roll my eyes.

"Yes, I heard you I would just like more of an explanation of why. I barely speak to you."

"I know and I hate that I get what I want. You leave me alone, and we don't get close at all." I sit up and place my feet on the ground.

"Then what is your problem?" He doesn't answer for a moment.

"You. You're my problem. I shouldn't care about you in the slightest but all I can see when you walk into the rook is your damaged ankle, I'd like to know what you're thinking all the time. I enjoy seeing how riled up I can make you and it'd annoying, it's annoying that as much as I've made myself hate you. I don't hate you." He gets up abruptly and storms from the library, I don't really know how to take his information in so I decide to just bandage up my foot, put the book back and go straight to the boutique again. Once there, I see the others beginning lunch.

"Right, let's get back to work." I give a faint smile still thinking about my interaction with Loki, but I take the dresses they pulled out and go back to trying them on. A few more hours pass and I still hadn't found a single dress I liked, the ball would be starting soon.

"Come on Y/n, you have to just pick one now." It was clear the other two were getting tired of me.

"I have an idea, how about I look at the remaining ones and try on what I like." They each shrug and I get up, I head over to the remaining few dresses and as I scan through them one particular dress catches my eye. It was a deep forest green but it was simply elegant. I pull it from the rack and go try it on, it slid on so easily and nicely once done up it hugged me perfectly in all the right areas but I could move and breath. I walk out and show them the dress.

"She's smiling, that's good. And it's kind of funny how you ended up taking a liking to Loki's colour." Jane smirks at my colour choice.

"Don't ruin this dress for me. It's the only one I've tried on and liked, is it acceptable?" I watch Friga look me up and down in all areas before giving a smile.

"More than acceptable, not to mention the irony of the fact Loki's colour suits you. Now we all must go and get ready for the ball." We all leave taking our dresses with us and I head for my room when Loira and additional maids join me, and we all immediately begin getting me ready for the ball. We worked on my make-up, only natural look since I wasn't into being deceitful. Then my hair we merely let sit in it's curls going down my back, and then I put on the gown and when we looked in the mirror I was extremely pleased that I managed to look half decent in a dress. But I was nowhere near looking like a princess, I sighed but put on a smile.

"Thank you, this is perfect." They all nod and leave except for Loira.

"I will lead you to the doors to the ball where Loki should be waiting for you, come." I follow her from the room trying to not limp as to seem proper, it was extremely difficult in these damn heels though. I get more and more nervous as we get closer and closer and I can hear Thor and Jane be announced, meaning it would be me and Loki very soon. We turn a corner and there he is waiting for me in front of the doors, he doesn't look at me probably feeling awkward over earlier and I didn't blame him.

"Good luck Y/n, you'll do great." I smile and thank Loira before she leaves and I walk over to Loki, finally he looks to me and for a quick moment he looks me over before facing forward holding his arm out which I take.

"Don't forget, we have to make this believeable." I take a deep breath and hear our names be called, this was it.
