~Thor's POV~

Me and my parents were currently in the throne room awaiting my brother and Y/n's arrival home, whenever anyone royal was due to return home or visit the royals we were expected to go through the throne room first. We were waiting since we had heard they had entered the gates on their horses and pretty soon we could hear them arguing outside, we all share worried looks as guards open the doors and they walk in. Loki was walking calmly with his hands behind his back but for the first time in a long while Loki was wearing a deep frown, in my head this was a win. I notice a small limp Y/n had and Loki kept glancing to the leg every now and again, they make to the end where Loki stays standing and so does Y/n.

"Forgive me I would courtesy but I have sprained my ankle." My father doesn't say anything for amoment as he looks between the two.

"How did it go?" My father questions the two.

"Bad."

"Awful." They both say at the same time.

"So the week together hadn't helped?" My mother questions.

"Oh it did help. Helped me resent him even more." She scowls to Loki who just rolls his eyes.

"It is your fault you thought that this would help anything, we are just an arrangement." Y/n hobbles to turn and face him as we watch silently.

"Yes we are and to be quite Frank with you, I've purposefully been with worse. A lot worse than you but I still wouldn't pick you out of a line up of them." I could see my brothers anger bubbling but he just turns to glare at the three of us before storming from the room.

"I'm sorry I-" my father stops her.

"It is alright Y/n, you are excused." She nods before limping from the room.

"Thor please check ok your brother for me will you." I nod at my mother's request and chase off after my brother, I knew he would be going to the Library so I head there to see him stood staring at the bookcase.

"Welcome home brother." He goes frigid at my presence.

"Yes, hello." I walk over to him.

"There is something wrong." He glances to me as he grabs a book.

"No."

"Loki."

"Thor." I sigh.

"Why can't you just I don't know be normal and try to get along with her." He gives me an angry look.

"Believe it or not Thor, I did try. I'm not a complete monster, she's just infuriating." I give him an odd look.

"Actually, me and Jane have been getting to know her before you two left and her company is wonderful." He turns back to the bookcase.

"Maybe you two would like to marry her." I shake my head.

"Loki, just take this seriously for a moment. Mother and father have decided to throw a ball to announce the marriage of the two of you to our people, it is tomorrow evening. Please can you try to look like a couple, please. Our people need to know you are stable together."

"That is deceitful."

"Which is why you should be great at it, come on brother it is just one evening. All you have to do is enter the room together, explain your engagement to a few people and do a singular dance together. That is it." I can see my brother thinking over it for a moment.

"Fine. I will try but not for you. Not for Odin. But for Mother. I can't promise it will go well." Deciding that was good enough I pat him on the back and take my leave.

~Loki's POV~

Thor had left, I stood in the library alone for a moment before the door creaks and footsteps enter the room.

"Oh, sorry. I can go." I glance over to her, she wasn't wearing her boots and you could see the bandage on her ankle.

"It is fine, what's ours is yours." She shuffles her hands for a moment before moving further into the rook scanning over the books, I wasn't sure what I was really in the mood for anymore but I watched as she tried to use her one good foot to reach a book quite high. I watched for a moment as she stretched and wobbled ever so slightly, she was going to fall. She wasn't going to reach it, and pretty soon she started to fall and without thinking I stride over and catch her at the waist before she good hurt herself anymore. We stand that way for a moment as her hands rest on mine but at least she was okay, I shake my head. I should not be hoping she's okay.

"Um, well thanks. You can let go now." I hear what she says and let her go before moving away.

"Your foot is going to be an issue for tomorrow." I take a seat on one of the sofas to the side of the room.

"Excuse me?" I look to her thinking of how to get that book down.

"Your foot. We have a ball tomorrow of which we are expected to dance, you can barely walk." She hobbles over to a stool which she picks up and tries to carry it over to where the book was.

"I didn't plan to sprain my foot. Not to mention it would heal quicker if I could lay somewhere with like something cold." She places the stool down and tries to stand on it and reach for the book again.

"You could start by getting down from the stool." One hand waves me off. I watch the stool wobble as she does, so I get up to go right back over to which I grab her by the waist and hoist her down with ease.

"Hey!" I use my ability to grab the book and bring it back towards me into my hand, I present the book for her as she just stares at me.

"Take the book." She snaps out of it and takes the book before I go and sit down where I previously was, she walks over to a sofa not far from where I was to read her book. I use my ability again to drag the stool over to sit in front of her, she doesn't move her feet for a moment until eventually she let's them lay out in front of her.

"Why are your hands so cold?" I think over how to respond to her for a moment.

"Cold blooded." It wasn't completely false.

"Right, cold blooded enough to feel close to ice." I shake my head.

"Why are you asking?" At that question she moves her foot ever so slightly, it was clear she wanted to use it as a cooling aid.

"Curious." Watching her move and fidget with her foot, wincing as she does so I hate myself ever little bit more as I get up from where I sat waltz over to the stool lifting her legs as I sit down and place them on my lap.

"What are you-" I shush her to which she goes quiet as I take her left foot and unwrap the bandage seeing how swollen her ankle actually was, I then place my hand on her ankle and encase it in my hand. She flinches to begin with before relaxing.

"Thanks." I don't respond and try to focus on anything other than her skin, it was soft and warm which contrasted to mine very much and in a good way. I hated it. I sat there as she read her book the tension was a lot to take in and after a while I bandaged her foot back up, stood up and placed her legs back on the stool before leaving the room. I was not going to let myself get drawn in to her wicked witch ways.
