~Reader’s POV~
The doors open and we walk out to the top of the stairs, everyone was silent and staring up at us. It was a lot to take in and stand here with a gentle smile on my face, people begin to whisper among one another and as we make our way down the stairs I feel myself begin to shake more and more but I try ro remain calm. We reach the bottom where Loki leads me into the middle of the room where he holds my hand as opposed to my arm now, I try to not overthink it as Loki faces us towards one another and places his remaining hand on my waist drawing me close enough to look believable. As the music starts he leads us into a traditional Asgardian dance which I hoped I could at least pick up, we move across the floor rather nicely and I try to keep my attention off of the staring eyes and my swollen foot.
"Relax." I look up at Loki who doesn't look to me.
"What?"
"Relax, it'll be a lot easier if you just relaxed. And smile." I put a smile on.
"Essy for you to say, you're used to these events. I'm not. Forgive me for being absolutely nervous, it's also not easy dancing with a swollen ankle." All of a sudden I feel myself begin gently lifted and placed onto his feet.
"What are you doing?" He finally looks down at me.
"Saving the dance from failure, has it helped or not?" I think for a moment before finally relaxing a little, it did actually help.
"Yes, thank you." He continues to dance around the hall.
"About earlier.." I feel him tense slightly.
"Let's not discuss it." I shake my head.
"No let's, you had a lot to say earlier why can't we discuss it now." He sighs before looking to me.
"Everything I said was true yes but it meant nothing. This is still just an arrangement, nothing more nothing less." I look away and smile wider this time.
"Of course." We fall back into silence and I no longer ask anymore questions or talk to him as we finish the dance and once we do, we pull apart and I courtesy. After we had risen everyone went back to how they were dancing before and mingling, I turned away from Loki and headed straight for the buffet of food of which I got a mountain high plate of meats.
"What a beautiful gown." I jump slightly but turn to see a beautiful woman in a lovely golden gown stood beside a tall man holding her at the waist, never looking away from her once.
"Thank you, it is gorgeous." She smiles at me as she starts gathering food.
"Funny, no one has ever been able to get through to Prince Loki. And yet somehow out of the blue you come along, how did you meet." I start to panic ever so slightly not knowing how to answer before feeling and arm encase my waist and a body stand beside me, not exactly warm so of course it was Loki.
"We met while I was out riding, a little break away from getting used to home again." The woman's smile drops having seen Loki beside me but she has a small smile.
"Ah so she is a commoner." I smile as I eat another piece of my meat hoping Loki would take the lead.
"To you people yes she may be, but to us here at the palace. She is destined to be here, now would you excuse us for a moment." Loki guides me away to one side of the room making it obvious to everyone we did not wish to be disturbed.
"I didn't do that for you." I give him a confused look.
"Then why did you come over?" He looks around the room before back down at me.
"Because you were going to blow it." I roll my eyes.
"You could have more faith in me you know." He quirks an eyebrow and holds my waist pulling me closer to him our faces inches apart but I was not amused.
