sidewalk, side by side. The cherry blossom trees blowing in the wind, knocking the pretty pink petals onto the ground. The slight breeze making the evening air feel chillier. It was nearing the end of summer, so by evening it grew pretty chilly, the sun setting earlier than the months prior. It felt peaceful, calm, relaxing. We had spent our time talking about ourselves, our likes, dislikes, etc."I'm really glad I met you today." Yuji blurted out, making me freeze for a minute before continuing walking.
I smiled softly, "I'm glad I met you, Yuji. You're the first real friend I've ever made on my own. And for that I'm grateful." I admitted, my cheeks growing warm from the embarrassment of my confession.
Yuji laughed, "Youre so genuine and pure. It was like a breath of fresh air meeting you. Really Kyo."
I turned to him, giggling, "Okay Shakespeare." I laughed, nudging the boys shoulder, "But seriously, I've never had a stranger be so kind to me. You're the sweetest boy I've ever met. So don't think about leaving anytime soon." I smiled at him.
"Wasn't planning on it! Don't worry madam" Yuji smiled at me, making me giggle again at his bubbly personality.
"Yu would've really liked him. If only he was still here to meet him" I thought to myself as I stared at the pink petals on the ground as I walked over them. Just last month Yu passed away while he was on a mission. Everyone was heartbroken, Nanami took it the hardest.
Finally we approached the stairs of Satoru's penthouse, "This is my place. Thank you for walking me home Yuji. It was a really sweet gesture." I smiled.
Yuji smiled back, shrugging his shoulders, "It's no big deal. I wanted to make sure you'd get home safe. Anytime you need to I'll walk home with you. I enjoy it. So see you tomorrow?" he asked.
I nodded, "Of course. Get home safe please. Text me when you do?"
Yuji nodded as well, "Will do, Goodnight Kyo, see you tomorrow!" He yelled as he walked away on the sidewalk.
I smiled for a second, watching the boy stick his hands in his pockets as he walked down the sidewalk. Once he got far enough I walked up the stairs and opened the door.
"Surprise!" I heard everyone yell as I walked into the open space. All of Satoru's classmates, Nanami, Suguru, Shoko, everyone all gathered around to surprise me.
I smiled, "Why are you all here?" I asked.
"To celebrate you finishing your first day of school of course." Suguru smiled, patting my head softly.
"But the better question is who was just outside with you?" Satoru said, crossing his arms like a protective dad.
I rolled my eyes, "He's a friend I made today, and since you didn't pick me up like you said you would, he was a gentleman and offered to walk with me the whole hour it took for me to get here." I stuck my tongue out at him.
