— I was expecting a happier reaction from you, but I guess maybe I'm asking too much. —Commented the imposing warrior with six pairs of eyes. —And I see that you bring company. Interesting without a doubt. —
—This is Bretta-san, an old friend. —
The young woman was frightened by the presence of the colossal creature. His height was almost double her, making feeling intimidated a surprise to no one. Even so, the young woman kept looking into his eyes without even blinking, even though her body did not stop trembling with fear.
The hunter looked at her in great detail. As an expert, he could recognize her as an easy prey. Still, the fact that he didn't look away from his chilling presence was quite a feat. A feat that the hunter assimilated with satisfaction.
- I see. You have a good eye my pupil. —The imposing being commented after letting out a smile, causing the young woman to blush noticeably, although the ghost's empty expression did not change at all.
—We are passing through. I'll take her to the Green Path. There you can recover the life you lost because of my actions. —
— Ghost-kun, I already told you that what happened was not your fault. —
—I'm sorry, Bretta-san. But as much as I appreciate you saying those words to me, I simply couldn't ignore the consequences of my actions. It is the least I can do for you. —
A difficult situation to look at without a doubt. The hunter remained silent, seeing those two young men in such a way. He knew Ghost better than anyone, and he knew he wouldn't rest until he did what he thought was right. If he had formulated a pact or promise in his mind, he would fulfill it regardless of the method or the consequences. Or raised him to be that way after all.
However, seeing the young woman's sadness was not something to ignore either. She tried to ease the guilt from Ghost's shoulders, in an act to try to calm his tormented mind and afflicted heart. Poor innocent creature. His intentions were too pure... But what he didn't know was that Ghost's soul could not be saved for a long time.
—So, you plan to take her with the Green Path... And tell me... Do you think they are going to accept her so easily? —
The teacher's words brought them both out of their afflictions. Bretta looked up, afraid of his words. She was aware of the disputes between kingdoms, and it was possible that someone from the City of Tears would not be viewed favorably. If she were rejected, she would surely be helpless. Although... If that meant accompanying Ghost and supporting him in some way, it was an idea that was not at all unpleasant to him. However...
—I'm not afraid of that. Also... It's a good time to pay off a debt. —Commented the ghost.
— Mmmm... Will you use a favor for such a task?... It must be very important then. —
Ghost didn't say anything, although those present would have expected him to. His face only dropped slightly, as if his insides were battling between his logical thinking and his sadness. A battle that could last forever. A somber state very typical of a broken lama.
