The sun was barely rising over the horizon, and the slight increase in temperatures was already beginning to wake up the most lively people of Deep Nest. The city was slowly waking up, the streetlights were being renewed and businesses were beginning to open their doors. Yesterday all the food stalls received their gifts, and you could already begin to smell the alternative meals prepared with tofu.
The halls of the palace were also filled with life, as servants and guards moved from one place to another. Some for the change of shift, others starting to prepare everything for the start of the day at the palace. Especially in the kitchen, since breakfast should be ready when the diners woke up.
However, away from all the commotion of the common hallways, a weaver walked softly down the hallway where Sendero Verde's guests were resting. It was almost impossible for Hachi to sleep last night. Ghost was in her room, and that made her too nervous to get more than five hours of sleep. However, there was something he needed to understand. Something that only an insect would be able to understand.
KNOW KNOW KNOW
The weaver's knuckles knocked gently on the door, still doubting whether it would be wise to wake up a guest. However, he needed to talk to her as soon as possible.
Hachi was about to play again, when he heard small noises from inside the room. Heavy footsteps approached little by little, until the handle was turned from the inside. When the door opened, it revealed the enormous insect sleeping inside.
—Hachi-san? What are you doing... here so early?
—Miss Kaede, sorry for bothering you but... I need to talk to you.
The huge insect was surprised by the sudden request, mixed with the fact that she was still half asleep. In fact, she looked very funny with her sleepy face and the leaves that made up her hair in a mess. However, the fact that the Khan of Deep Nest came personally to your room to talk about something should not be just any banality.
-Clear. Sit down dear. Make yourself at home.
A loquacious comment that brought out a couple of laughs, but laughs that didn't last long on the weaver's face.
—Hey... Everything's fine.
—Yes... It's just... I need to talk to you about something. I know we don't know each other very well, but you're the closest person I know to Ghost-dono.
—Ghost? —He asked with concern. —Tell me everything.
—Ghost-dono came to my room in the middle of the night. I didn't know what he wanted and I was a little scared, but he showed interest in my music.
—He wanted to hear music? That's new.
—I didn't really give it much importance, and I played a song for him. The first one was very similar to the one you heard at dinner, but then I wanted to try something more... melancholic.
—And what happened? —He asked when he saw that Hachi took a long pause and lost himself in a nascent sadness.
—I... I played that song. I DID NOT believe anything bad would happen. But then he... he burst into tears and I... I couldn't do anything to help him. I was afraid. I didn't know what was happening to him. I was scared to see him clenching his body like that... Scratching his mask... I thought something bad would happen... I was very scared.
Hachi's voice grew heavier and heavier, until the bitterness and pain of remembering that scene silenced her almost completely as she had to resist her sobs. However, great was his surprise when he looked up again, only to see Kaede shocked by such words, while a tear that Hachi did not understand ran down her face.
