Moon cried her entire heart out. She had really thought Qibli was the one for her. She never expected Qibli to say yes. Well, it didn't matter. She was going to make the right decision now.

"Moon, it's going to be all right- maybe Qibli will c-change." Kinkajou stammered.

"Not likely," Foeslayer interrupted. "I'm sorry Kinkajou, but I had also thought Darkstalker could change. Animus magic corrupts you. It feeds on your soul giving you that feeling of power until there's no coming back."

Moon couldn't take it anymore. She rushed out of the room and leaped into the air.
"Moon!" Kinkajou cried out.

I'm doing this for my good. For my future. Moon thought. And there's a dragon that I know will guide me through it.

Moon finally found the room where the dragon she was looking for was in. Winter was kicking the rug on the floor, with an unpleasant expression on his face. She sobbed and rushed in, burying herself in Winter's arms. Winter's eyes widened.

"Woah, Moon, what happened?' Winter asked. "It's all right, you can tell me anything."

Words started to rush out of Moon's mouth. She told him everything. To Qibli accepting animus magic, and to when he just left, without saying goodbye. Moon could hear Winter's breathing become agitated.

"That little-" Winter grumbled, "I knew we shouldn't have trusted Darkstalker."

At this point, Moon stopped crying.
"Winter," Moon said shakily. "In this future, Darkstalker can see me with Qibli being together. But I don't want to be with him. He's already starting to become evil."

Silence. Moon was still in Winter's arms until Winter finally spoke.

"Moon, listen," Winter said, helping her get up to her feet. "The future doesn't determine your path. There are multiple futures out there. Darkstalker was just telling Qibli the thing he wanted most. Only you can shape your future."

Moon let that sink in. Winter was right. She won't go back to Qibli. With Winter by her side, she thought, maybe things were going to be OK. Maybe Qibli didn't choose the right path, but it wasn't too late to change that.

"Thanks, Winter. You're an amazing dragon." Moon sighed.

"Don't mention it," Winter said grumpily.

Moon laughed and turned around.

"Wait, where are you going?" Winter demanded.

Moon turned around and asked him,

"We're going to visit Qibli. We're going to try to make things right. Are you coming?"
