Moon finally found Kinkajou and came in to tell her everything. Kinkajou was in the middle of practicing her writing with Foeslayer, but Moon didn't care. She rushed into the room and said, "Kinkajou, we need to talk."
As Foeslayer gave them both tea, Moon started telling Kinkajou everything. Kinkajou's eyes widened.
"Woah, this is some serious love triangle business right here." She cried.
Moon rested her head on her talons. I do believe in Winter. He can make the right choices. Moon thought. But... so can Qibli. Winter had been growing on her for the past week, and she wasn't sure who to choose anymore.
"I would suggest taking a break from all of them." Foeslayer chimed in. "Male dragons, am I right?"
Kinkajou giggled. Moon smiled weakly, then got up.
"I'm going to take a walk. Care to join me, Kinkajou?"
Kinkajou shook her head. "Sorry, but I'm here to practice my spelling with Foeslayer. She is a GREAT FANTASTIC teacher."
Moon laughed. "All right, I'll come back after."
Kinkajou and Foeslayer said goodbye to her, and Moon was walking in the palace. She noticed that the ceilings were abnormally tall and were black with silver dots painted on them. To represent the night sky, she realized. The Nightwings must enjoy the night so much they decided to paint the ceilings so they could enjoy it during the day. Moon was about to fly up to examine them more but then a dragon suddenly rammed into her. Qibli.
"Ow!" Moon cried. Qibli got up from her and brushed off the dust that settled on her wings.
"Sorry, are you all right?" Qibli said. Before he could take an answer, he then said, "Listen, I'm sorry for what Winter and I did back in the throne room. I know it was wrong to toy with other dragons' thoughts, but Winter doesn't deserve you either. Just give me a shot. Please?"
Moon eyed Qibli, horns to tail, and knew that he was being honest with her.
"Fine," she said slowly. "But we're just friends for now. I'll see how I feel about both of you after a while. Deal?"
Qibli smiled his usual bright smile. "Deal. But I have to ask," he lowered his voice down. "Winter yelling at you makes me mad. Doesn't that make you even madder?"
Moon shook her head. "I think he's just misunderstood. He still has a hard time with animus magic ever since he rescued Hailstorm. And I don't blame him."
"You mean ever since WE saved Hailstorm." Qibli barked. "You played a crucial part in finding Hailstorm too, you know. It's OK to feel mad at him."
Moon stared into Qibli's eyes.
"I am a bit mad at him, but that shouldn't get in our way when it comes to relationships. Things are rough on both sides. We just have to help each other out on it, that's all."
"And look what happened with Arctic and Foeslayer." Qibli pointed out.
"That's different," Moon protested. "They both loved each other. It was our tribes that made it a huge deal. Plus, Arctic used an excessive amount of- um-"
"Animus magic." Qibli finished for her. Moon nodded ruefully. Is this what is going to happen to Qibli? Moon wondered. Arctic wasn't that bad, he was only blinded by his animus magic.
"Moon, I assure you I won't be like Arctic," Qibli said quietly to her. Moon jumped.
"I forgot you could read minds now," She said, dipping her head.
Qibli nodded. Moon let that process for a minute, before asking him,
"Hey, do you want to finish the walk with me?"
