Moon and Winter both flew back to the Night Kingdom. I can't believe Qibli would do such a thing. She thought. Next to her, she saw Winter struggling with the heat. Moon scanned what was below her and spotted a large oasis. She pointed to it and they landed to cool down. When they landed, Winter immediately jumped into the oasis and splashed Moon. She yelped. Winter laughed.
"Moon, it is great in here. And you need to cool off. The Night Kingdom is way farther than you think."
Moon hesitated, then stepped into the oasis delicately. Winter then dragged her in and she was submerged in cool, clear water. By the time she resurfaced, she saw Winter polishing his scales. All right, Moon smiled sheepishly to herself. I have to admit he is also quite handsome. Winter wasn't exactly perfect. He still lashed out at her sometimes, but she could see he was slowly managing his anger issues, making herself feel better, and taking care of her. Moon spent some time refreshing herself and swimming around. When she looked up, she saw Winter flying around and he was shining like a second sun. Winter looked down at her and beckoned for her to join him. Moon smiled and took off, both of them heading to the Night Kingdom.
They both finally landed in the Night Kingdom. As soon as Winter set foot, he immediately rushed into the palace.
"What are you doing?" Moon said cautiously.
"I'm going to ask Darkstalker to remove the spell from Qibli," Winter said. "Are you coming?"
Moon fell silent. She wasn't sure how Darkstalker would react to Winter, let alone let Winter confront him. And there was still a chance to save Qibli from becoming totally evil.
"I- I can't," Moon finally said. "And you shouldn't either."
"Well, I'm going whether you're coming or not." Winter snapped back. "Animus magic is dangerous. No dragon should even have this power if they don't know how to use it correctly. Not even Qibli."
"Winter! Animus magic can be used for great things. Didn't you say that my powers were also dangerous and shouldn't be used?" Moon returned. Winter opened and closed his mouth a few times, then growled.
"That's different. Animus magic can do far more damage. And Qibli's gone too far."
"I think we should think this through-" Moon got interrupted by Winter.
"THINK THIS THROUGH? WHAT IS THERE TO THINK? DARKSTALKER IS EVIL, QIBLI IS ON THE PATHWAY TO BECOMING EVIL, AND YOU ARE JUST GOING TO LET THAT SLIDE?" He roared. Moon stepped back. Qibli would have never yelled at her like that. Even if the situation was as dangerous as this.
"You're right," Moon said softly. "I'm sorry."
Winter's breathing was agitated again. He started marching towards the palace. Moon followed behind him, avoiding making eye contact with Winter.
