Papillon POV
I sit at my desk, staring at the phone number.
My head hurts.
I know this needs to be done. I pick up my phone.
'Call Isheba'
She picks up on the first ring.
'Hello my child. What trouble ya got now?'
She has a deep Jamaican accent, she feels motherly. I know she's in my head.
I ... I don't know ............
'Ya want help? I need ya say it out loud. You need to invite me in now.'
Yes I want, I need help. Please. I need your help. Please....
I feel my tears come.
'It be fine. I can help ya now. Papillon you not fret no more, we get ya right ... I come to you one hour. That be alright?'
Yes. Do you know ... of course you know where I live.
'That I do, but it no magic. Ya sister let me know, not blood family, but spirit. Lots of love 'der, lots. See ya soon.'
Thank you.
I exhale and sit back in my chair. I already feel a little bit better.
Laurent comes in.
"Papillon, you feel different... better."
I know, I called her.
"Good, that's good."
She'll be here in about an hour. Isheba.
"Are you nervous about what you might see?"
Yes. But I have to know, there is some sort of connection between me and Hope and it goes deeper than Jacques. She's in here. She's in my head and I don't know how to get her out.
"You made the right call."
Yeah, I think so. I'm gonna get dressed. I'll see you guys downstairs in a little bit.
"OK."
Laurent leaves, and I go take a shower. My mind starts to wander as it always does when I'm standing under the warm stream of water. I feel my husband, he's trying to feed but I'm too anxious about my meeting with Isheba. Aria swears by these .... I don't even even know what to call them.
"Bébé, you want us stay? Lau say somebody coming here."
Hold on Larry. I'll be out in a minute.
When I come out, my bookends are sitting together on the bed. Looking worried.
"You not want to feed, maybe you need a boost."
