My alarm goes off, I wake up and roll over in bed. I stretch my arm out to feel for Hugo but notice that he is not laying in bed besides me - I let out a loud sigh then lie silent just in case I can hear any sounds from elsewhere in the house.
That is the thing I loved about the countryside when I moved here, it was so quiet. Compared to the hustle and bustle of Monaco - Chiddingfold is so quiet, peaceful, calm. I had room to think, and room to recover after the breakup.
The silence doesn't feel so calm right now, thoughts from my conversation with Kate from the other day swarm my head.
"A work trip Rae, on a weekend?"
"You don't think it's a little bit strange?"
Hugo has always worked hard since I've known him, his work trips have increased recently but that is just the nature of working in finance.
He wouldn't cheat on me, would he?
Of course he wouldn't, I'm being stupid, I trust him. I trust him.
It is my fault he left, I was the one getting worked up over bumping into Lando, I didn't need to call Liana to talk about it, I should have just ignored him and forgotten about it. I know, I'll text him:
Hi ᑉ³
I'm so incredibly sorry about last night, I was being stupid
You're not here:')
Hurry home, I miss u and love u xxStayed at a friends last night
Will be home at 7pm
I'll cook dinner for us! XxAlright, see you later x
I let out a sigh of relief, phew, it's all good, I'll cook us a nice dinner tonight and everything will return to normal. What are the chances of me even seeing Lando again, next to none, I told him to stay away and I won't even think about him going forwards.
I get out of bed and throw on some leggings and an oversized hoodie, before heading downstairs to the kitchen - I open the cupboards to get some inspiration for dinner this evening, but all that is staring back at me are a few tins of baked beans and a packet of super noodles. It's not exactly screaming inspiration is it.
Deciding to get some inspiration, I grab my keys and walk down the village to the general store. It's a frosty morning in Chiddingfold, the grass glistens with ice, it makes the village look even more picturesque than usual. I think back to a time in the South of France, I tried photography. Liana and I went on a run one day (it was a small passing phase) and she kept getting annoyed that I was stopping to take pictures of the scenery. In the end she run off and left me behind and met me back at the apartment.
That evening Lando picked me up and I showed him the photos that I had taken during the run, he thought it was brilliant, he spent ages looking through the pictures. And then the next time I saw him, he had bought his very own camera and we went around taking photos together. I stopped after a while, the hyperfixation of photography wore off, but he carried on. He set up an Instagram page and then even got Daniel, his teammate at the time involved.
