We had a busy morning in the bakery, the Chiddingfold Bowls Club came in for their end of season celebration. It was really lovely, we served tea and coffee and watched as all the members got their awards. They give awards to everyone who participates which we found cute.
I tried taking some pictures on my phone, it was nice to see the cafe so full of people. I couldn't help but wonder how much nicer the photos would have looked if I had my professional camera.
And that is how I've ended up emptying all the cupboards whilst Silvia cleans the tables in the store.
"Are you okay Raegan?" She asks as I put the final box from the cupboard up on the counter.
"Yeah, all fine." I smile weakly and start rummaging through the boxes and looking for my camera amongst them.
"How's Hugo?" She asks.
Hugo and I haven't really spoken since our small argument the other day. The next morning I got up and he had already left the house, he has been working away a lot as well, it's been really hard to spend time together because he is barely around.
I feel myself welling up with tears and they threaten to spill the more I think about it, but maybe talking about it will help? Silvia is so kind and maybe it'll be good to get it off my chest.
"We're arguing at the moment, things aren't too good. He's always out and we never spend time together, and I'm just a bit upset about it," my voice quivers as I say the last part of my sentence.
Silvia drops the cleaning items on the table and runs over to give me a hug as the tears spill over.
"Oh Raegan, come on, don't cry." she rubs my back, "I've never seen you cry, this is the worst, how come you're arguing?"
"I bumped into my ex-boyfriend, and then called Liana to tell her and he thinks there's something going on or I'm not over him or something, it's just shit. It'll be fine."
She gives me another hug as I pull myself together.
"Your ex-boyfriend from France? Where on earth did you see him," she laughs.
"In the village," I dab my face with a napkin and take a deep breath in, talking about it out loud does help.
"That is so random, your ex-boyfriend, who doesn't even live in England was here... in the village?!" Silvia exclaims, I understand how it must sound almost unbelievable to her but I haven't told her too much detail on my old life.
"Yeah, so random," I laugh back.
"Maybe he's stalking you," she raises her eyebrows at me jokingly, and then heads out the back of the cafe.
And almost in a comical sense, the door swings open and Lando Norris walks in. You couldn't write it.
"Maybe he is," I grunt under my breath, as he approaches the counter and looks at all the cakes and pastries we have for sale today.
"Can I help you?" I sigh, and give him an exasperated look.
He looks at me intently, before his face switches from confused, to concerned over a few seconds.
"Have you been crying?" he asks.
To be honest, I'm not really in the mood to talk to my ex-boyfriend about my current boyfriend to tell him that him being in the village has caused issues and now we're arguing and also I since I've seen him I can't get the stupid memories out of my head. So I'll just tell him I'm fine.
"No, I.. did a big yawn before you stomped in here."
"I didn't stomp," he smiles.
"What do you want Lando," I turn around and start searching through the boxes for my camera again.
