It was right when the police left that Crystal flopped back onto the bed and let out a snore.

Gigi gazed at her sadly, watching as her girlfriend quickly fell asleep, the interrogation from the officers having taken a lot out of her. It had taken a lot out of Gigi, too, and she wasn't even the one being interrogated. Sure, she was asked a few questions, but Crystal was the victim of her story and she was the sole focus.

Sitting down on the bed next to Crystal's legs, Gigi furrowed her brows in discomfort. She hadn't liked the responses Crystal had given. When asked, Crystal had only really shrugged and said, "I don't remember." She gave a few other vague answers, and soon the police couldn't get any more information.

It was all odd to Gigi. She didn't think Crystal was lying, not at all; she truly believed that the hospitalized girl really didn't remember most of her time locked away. But it all felt off, like she was hiding something deeper. Like she only told the police officers what they wanted to hear, and not really how everything that had happened to her had actually happened to her.

Crystal was hiding her emotions, her trauma, from the officers. From Gigi.

Gigi bit her lip and rested her hand on Crystal's knee. The girl twitched but stayed asleep.

Gigi hoped that she would be able to get Crystal to open up to her. If she wouldn't to the police officers, surely she could to her girlfriend?

Gigi sighed and curled up next to Crystal, laying her head on her chest and closing her eyes. Tired from the day's events, she quickly found herself joining the realm of dreams.

When Crystal finally awoke, the doctor entered the room, and with him brought good news.

"Well, Crystal," he said with a smile. "I'm happy to announce that by later today, you are free to go home."

Crystal's eyes brightened at the statement, grabbing onto Gigi's hand that rested beside her.

"Really?" she asked, excited, hopeful.

"Yes, really. Now, you still have to keep up with your medication for your kidney disease. While it is mostly cleared, the symptoms may still come to bite, and the pills will keep it calm while you take a few more days to fully heal. But other than that, your dehydration is like it had never of happened, and you are able to go home. Just remember to drink a lot of water."

"Thank you, doc!" she beamed, happy that she could finally leave this stupid hospital room that she had been laying in for a week and a half. She could finally go home, see her cat, and live her normal, happy life like she always had been before.

She looked over to Gigi, who smiled just as brightly back.

"The nurse will come soon to get everything finalized," he finished, turing to and exiting the door.

When the door closed behind him, Crystal sat up fully, bringing Gigi up with her. The quick movement sent a twinge of pain through the back of her head, but she ignored it. Their faces were close, noses nearly pressing together.

"We get to go home," Crystal said, eyes nearly closed from her blinding smile. "We did it."

Gigi's face mirrored the one in front of her.

"You did it," she emphasized before lifting her hand and brushing her thumb along Crystal's cheek. She pulled her in for a brief kiss, then pulled away to freckle her lips over Crystal's cheeks, nose, and back to her lips again, the other girl giggling lightly.
