Water rushed through the pipes in the walls. A bottle was lifted to a woman's lips and then disappeared. I brought my hand up to my mouth and breathed out to feel the moisture. I couldn't feel the moisture in any other part of the air.

I bent over in my seat, my head was low and my hands were rubbing the smooth stone given to me by Tani. This fucking formula, it changed too much.

The fluorescent lights of the hospital did not help with the headache that felt like it was pounding the inside of my skull.

It was my second time in a hospital in a week. I should have been in that operating theatre. I should have been the one getting the bullet removed then being stitched up and left with the scar. Not Tani, that bullet wasn't meant for him, he didn't deserve it.

I was too busy trying to be 'understanding' and 'forgiving'. It feels like that only ends up with people getting hurt along the way.

I was started to feel a hand rest on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, Tani just finished his surgery, it went really well," said Sora said reassuringly as she sat down in the seat next to me.

Sora had travelled from Hosu once she got word of Tani's injuries.

"I didn't fe- see you coming there," I choked out, "That's really good news, is he awake yet?"

"He won't be awake for a couple of hours." Matsui sat down on the other side of me. "While we wait you can tell us about what was happening when we found you."

I thought back to when Yoshi-san and Matsui found me in that alleyway. I had propped myself against a wall to watch Kappa's unconscious body. My tears had dried by the time they had appeared.

They told me that they had secured the money and called an ambulance  for the gunshot victims. They saw Kappa on the ground and my breathing unsteadily and began to ask if I was okay. They didn't understand what I meant when I said that Kappa couldn't use his quirk anymore but before I could explain, the police had arrived closely followed by the media.

"Here, you better keep hydrated." I looked up to see Yoshi-san holding a bottle of water out for me.

"Thanks." I took the bottle from his hand and zoned out as he said something to Sora and Matsui.

I twisted off the cap and once the water passed my lips, I couldn't stop. I drained the bottle in one go and finished with a sigh.

"Why don't we go to Tani's room and talk more privately?" said Yoshi-san.

The three of us nodded and followed him out of the waiting room and down a few corridors. Yoshi-san entered the room with an open door at the end of the hall and shut the door after we wall filed in after him.

Immediately when I stepped inside my eyes were drawn to the hospital bed at the far wall where Tani was lying. He was still in the deep sleep that was prompted by anaesthesia.

Lines of worry became visible on my forehead as I frowned. I looked out of window of the room to try and focus on something else as Sora and Yoshi-san pulled chairs into a little semicircle in the middle of the room.

It was getting lighter outside as sunrise approached.

"Over here Y/n," called Matsui.

I joined the little huddle, the expectant eyes of Yoshi-san and Matsui met mine. I couldn't hold their gaze.

"Is anyone going to clue me in on what happened?" questioned Sora. I guess she had been left in the dark until now.

"Oh yeah, of course," began Yoshi-san, "The entry to Kappa's base was smooth, we split up. Matsui and I, and Tani and Y/n. We entered the building slightly later but as we were making our way to retrieve the money we heard a gunshot."
