The last drops of water flowed down my throat just before I discarded the plastic bottle into a random bin.

Everyone was probably in the classroom at the end of this corridor, but it's not like I would know until I got there.

Last night, Yoshi-san had sent me a message telling me that Kappa's quirk had apparently just returned to him after a couple of hours. But no matter how long I muffled my cries in my room, the rest of my quirk had not returned like Kappa's. I couldn't understand why.

Tamo-san definitely sensed that something was wrong when I arrived home. I wasn't as cheerful as I usually was at seeing my favourite foods laid out on the table but he hadn't said anything.

He sat in his spot at the sofa, sipping tea as listened as I recounted my mission. I kept the part about me losing part of my quirk out. I don't know exactly why, I guess some part of me still wished that it would come back and I could pretend that that never happened.

When I pushed through giant door, the first thing I heard was Iida shouting, "Everyone, please take your seats!"

He was promptly ignored once Mina spotted me entering.

"N/n!" Mina's voice travelled across the classroom, alerting the other's of my presence as well. "How was your internship?"

Her apparent delight at seeing my was infectious. I brightened up and a smile appeared on my face.

"It was a bit bumpy but I got to put this one guy in a water bottle," I replied, childish excitement was clearly in my voice.

"What?!"

"I am here!" Hell no. My mood had significantly dropped at seeing that evil, unreasonably large man. And that was saying a lot, especially when Mina showed me a photo of Bakugo's 'tamed' hair as we were getting changed into hero costumes.

My eyes bore into him as he addressed the class.

"Hope you are ready to return to your lessons, today it's Hero Basic Training. Feels like I haven't seen you in a while. Welcome back." It would be so much more welcoming if you weren't here, but you're under the impression that everyone idolises you, aren't you?

"Now then, listen carefully for what's in store. We're going to be conducting a little race. Take everything you've learned from your internships and apply it to this rescue training," All Might explained to us.

"If it's rescue training then shouldn't we be at the USJ instead?" asked Iida.

"Ah, that facility specialises in disasters. As i said earlier, this is a race! So, prepare!" declared All Might, "You're about to step into Field Gamma. Inside is an area full of factories that form an intricate labyrinth, so good luck finding your way around. You'll be competing in groups of five, each person starts from a different position on the outskirts of the model city. I'll send a distress signal and you do what you must to rescue me. Whoever finds me first, wins!"

Oh the irony of him wanting us to rescue him. He's nothing but a pathetic piece of shit.

"But try to keep the property damage to a minimum, please." he added, pointing his finger to the side of the group.

"Why are you pointing at me," growled Bakugo.

"Hey Y/n." Mina poked my arm. "You forgot to take off your necklace like usual."

"Oh!" My locket. I didn't forget this time. I just needed to make sure that I always had my drive close to my heart. I didn't need to fall into the trap of questioning myself. And at least this way, it would feel like my parents would be watching over me
