Toshi-san's POV
The stab had caused damage to my already debilitating wound. After Young Y/n had passed out, her entire group and I were rushed to Recovery Girl's office.
Recovery girl had patched me up first, but I was quickly realising it was not because I was priority, she seemed keen to scold me. I was also wishing she hadn't as the pain would have distracted me from memories that were becoming far too vivid.
"Thank you very much Recovery Girl, I think I feel better," Midoriya said hoarsely after she had examined and used her healing quirk to fix him up. Midoriya was lying with his face pressed against the mattress of the school hospital bed that was identical to the ones that Bakugo and Y/n (who a room across) were in.
(I had such a strong urge to describe Midoriya as 'face down, ass up,' but I feel like that would have been wildly inappropriate, especially since All Might is narrating the scene)
"I'm sorry, All Might, I should have taken Y/n as well. If I had..." Midoriya began to tear up as his eyes darted toward my stomach where my hero costume was stained with blood and ripped by Y/n's knife. "I knew she was a danger, but I was only focused on getting me and Kacchan out of there for the exam."
Those tears those tears were of helplessness. He couldn't have done anything to change what had happened. For a split second, Midoriya's face was hers. I could see the tear-stained, terrified expression of the helpless child. I could hear her cries.
"Young Midoriya, this was not your fault. There are some things... What happened was the fault of my past self. I should have pushed myself so much harder despite my injuries. I should have been as strong as Young Bakugo." I felt one of my painfully bloody cough rising, interrupting me.
"All Might, you really don't know how to hold back. If you had hit these kids any harder they'd have permanent damage. Midoriya's back was horrible. I was barely able to heal it! And Bakugo probably won't wake up for a while," she scolded me while I coughed into my still muscular arm.
I would need to try and stay in my large form as I was still in my hero costume, it would be too risky to be seen in this in my small form.
I looked down at Young Midoriya as he lay battered and bruised from the exam. He had grown so much stronger than when we first met. I hardly recognise him as the scrawny, quirkless boy he seemed to overwhelmingly embody.
And Young Bakugo, he looked peaceful in his unconsciousness. He has been able to smile in the face of defeat countless times, and overcome it wonderfully.
Young Y/n was in another room. The face of the child flashed in my mind again. She was crying before she wounded me too. Her appearance hadn't changed much, but she had grown up so much. She had grown up thinking that I had purposefully let her parents die. If only she had known that-
"Y/n's guardian is on the way to the school," Aizawa said as he entered the room. He seemed to have shed his natural sleepy demeanour as he spoke. "Did she cause any serious injuries?"
They've called her guardian? What am I talking about, of course they've called her guardian. "Well, she did manage to catch me at my stomach, where my wound is, but she had no way of knowing it was there. It was an accident. And Recovery Girl was able to fix me up." At least the majority.
"Look, All Might. Y/n stabbed you after the exam was announced as finished. I don't know why you're trying to defend her, but I'm not so sure many others will do the same. This is serious." Aizawa said. His face was sliding between a neutral and angry face.
"Why don't we just calm down and stop wasting our energy squabbling over things that need to be discussed with Y/n's guardian." Recovery Girl stopped my and Aizawa's disagreement early.
