Author's POV
As Class 1A lost sight of Y/n and the strange man, they reluctantly filed back into the classroom. Despite their slow willingness to follow Aizawa who was ushering them in, they did not allow his shushes to silence their chatter.
"Who was that guy?"
"He must be one of the staff members, maybe he's a counsellor."
"If anyone needs it she does. Did you see the way she broke down."
"I hope she doesn't freak out on him. I panicked once she took off."
Midoriya was fidgeting silently among his friends who were currently having the conversation that was overheard by some other classmates and met with hesitant but sure agreement.
Only he and Aizawa knew the true reason to be worried about leaving Y/n with the tall, skeletal man.
Midoriya was barely registering what was being said around him; he was too busy preparing for the scenario where he would have to rush out of the classroom to help restrain Y/n. He already knew he was searching for All Might as soon as the bell rang-which wouldn't take long now, only ten minutes to the bell.
The assertive voice of the Class Rep brought Midoriya back to reality.
"Don't you think you should be a bit more respectful. She's obviously quite upset?" Iida spoke up. As much as he disagreed with her actions against All Might, he felt that it was unfair as the Class Rep to allow any of his classmates to have things like this said about them. Behind their back no less.
"Why are you defending her, don't you two have some weird beef together?" questioned Mineta.
"We used to but then I actually had a conversation with her. I realised that she's a good person, odd but good," he explained.
"Would a good person attack a teacher? Would they attack a hero?" asked someone among the crowd of peers.
Iida opened his mouth to defend but nothing came out. The assertiveness and argument died out of him as he realised that his moral compass was contradicting itself.
However it was picked up again by the seething blonde who had just been caught up by his friends.
"Why the hell did it take this long for somebody to tell me all that shit," his scream silenced the voices.
As everyone turned to stare at Bakugo, he realised that he was only going to be met with blank stares.
"And why is everybody except four-eyes against her. Did you not see how she cried just there? Then and during the exam? She's obviously going through something, but did any of you think of that? No! It was straight to making her out to be the bad guy." Bakugo turned to look at Mina and Kirishima who were behind him. "Aren't you two supposed to be her friends?"
"Yeah, but what she did... it- it just wasn't manly," Kirishima sighed defeatedly as he rubbed the back of his head nervously.
Mina's lip wobbled slightly as she struggled to hold Bakugo's fiery stare. "When we watched her from that screen yesterday." Tears made her black eyes glossy. "She was scary."
Toshi-san's POV
"It hurts," she hiccuped. "It hurts without them."
Y/n had stayed strong as I walked her to privacy, all the way to the nurse's room off the side of Recovery Girl's office, but as soon as I sat down beside her on the edge of the bed she broke down in tears.
These were the first words she had been able to articulate for a few minutes.
I could feel the guilt building up in my chest, but I knew it could never compare to what she was feeling. Even before she said anything, I saw the way she folded into herself, clutching her shirt where her heart would be. I heard how she sobbed- as if all the grief that she hadn't allowed herself to feel was exploding out of her- and I suppose it was. I finally understood her hatred towards All Might. And as I saw her hair shift, revealing the scar that had burdened her, I realised how strong she had been through all these years, when she should have been able to be a child.
