Dan Heng….

He was all she could think about as she walked down the sidewalk towards the one place she knew she had to go.

She would be lying if she said she didn’t feel something for him when they first started dating. How he treated her so kindly, and yet, she still felt betrayed. Why would hide all of that? Why would he stalk her? He says it was for love, but it just didn’t make any sense to her.

You shouldn’t trust anyone, not even Dan Heng.

Blade’s words ring in your ears. He go her fired from her singing job. She once thought he was the enemy, but he really wasn’t.

“I wonder…was that inexplainable feeling he was telling me actually love? Or does he really not understand what he feels?”

He may have gotten her fired, but he didn’t cause any other troubles. Not to mention that she was the one who quit her tailoring job. So she got herself into this mess with the broken contract business with the Stellaron Hunters, and yet he still helped her escape.

“He won’t be happy to see me again so soon.”

“Who won’t be happy to see you?”

Y/n stopped walking as Kafka stood in front of her, blinking slowly y/n looked up at the building she stopped in front of.  She was so lost in thought that she managed to make it to the place she was meant to go without even realizing it.

“Blade,” she answered truthfully.

Kafka let out an amused laugh before beckoning y/n forward, “You’re right, I think Bladie will be quite angry with you.” Kafka turned towards the front doors of the building but stopped to look back at her, “You’re not going to run again, are you?” Y/n shook her head, “I won’t. Not anymore.”

Kafka regarded her for a moment, “I see that you’ve grown. If only a little.”

“Only because I had to.”

Kafka found herself smiling at y/n’s answer. Maybe she’s grown too much in too little time.

“Then follow me.”

[…]

Elio didn’t show himself when Y/n wen tinto his office. Instead, she was met with a screen, a voice breaking through the speakers a moment later the second she sat down.

“And here I thought you gotten away.”

“I did get away. I just decided to come back.”

Elio hummed, “and do you know why we wanted you here?”

“I would say because of the broken contract, but that’s not true. Or, at least, it’s not the whole truth. Because…apparently, I don’t follow any script. My future is undetermined, and you want to use that to your advantage.”

“If you understand that much, then why did you come back?”

She smiled at that, “for Blade.”

“Why?”

“He gave me some answers to the questions I had while also creating new questions that I didn’t know how to answer,” and because I truly don’t understand what it’s like to be alone and to let go of something that mde you feel at peace even though you had the chance to hold onto it.

But she wants to understand. She wants to understand the immortal’s turmoil, the mara-struck, why her singing soothes him, and why he decided to tell her the truth even if it meant losing her. Because, so far, out of everyone – she feels like Blade has been the only truthful person so far. Yes, he lied in the beginning, but he told her the truth in the end. She didn’t have to find out about what he did from someone else. And that meant more to her than she ever realized.

“You humans are always so weird. Seeking comfort from those who dwell in darkness. But no matter. You are here now, so I’ll accept whatever reasons that brought you back here. Since you understand that you’ll be joining the stellaron hunters, I expect no complaints form you.”

“When do I officially join?”

“In an hour or so, I need to make a few preparations to the script now that you are here. Go wait somewhere inside the building in the meantime.”

“Is Blade here?”

“Fifty first floor.”

Y/n was quick to leave when she was dismissed from the room and the moment she got into the elevator, she found herself tapping her foot restlessly. It had only been a day since she last saw Blade, but she needed to see him. He may yell at her, threaten her to leave and to run away, but she didn’t care – she just wanted to tell him that she understood what he was trying to say.

She finally understood.
