Dan Heng gently caressed your palm with his fingers, his focus solely on you even though he was supposed to be paying attention to the hosts of the soiree that he and y/n were attending.

"Still as lovestruck as ever," Jing Yuan mused as he took a seat next to y/n bringing Dan Heng out of his stupor, his glare almost immediate, "and you are interrupting as always."

Jing Yuan chuckled softly, "we did agree to be with her together, remember? And how long has it been now?"

Dan Heng rolled his eyes, "three years since then. And frankly, it's three years too long. Sharing her with you is a pain in and of itself, right y/n?"

She was brought out her daze. She had been too focused on playing a gacha game on her phone that she hadn't realized that she was supposed to be in the conversation between her two lovers as well.

"Heheh, sorry, can you repeat that?"

Her sheepish smile told him everything he needed to know. You weren't paying any attention at all.

"I swear you like those games more than the people around you."

"That's not true," she argued, immediately becoming defensive. (Though, she did admit that some of the characters in the game were super cute!)

Jing Yuan shook his head and lightly wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "be nice to her, Dan Heng. Let her enjoy her games."

"Yeah," she was quick to piggyback off of Jing Yuan, "you're always so mean to me, Dan Heng!"

"Am not."

"Are too!"

Jing Yuan pinched her shoulder a bit, causing her to yelp a little before pouting up at him, "that's enough. You both should be paying attention to the hosts of this soiree anyway."

She huffed and turned off her phone before leaning onto Jing Yuan's side a bit more to get comfortable (just in case she ends up falling asleep and needs somewhere to rest her head, of course). Dan Heng also turned his attention to the front but still had a firm grasp on her hand. His fingers were still rubbing those tiny circles into her palms.

And as the hosts droned on and on, she started to get bored and nudged both Jing Yuan and Dan Heng, "I need to use the bathroom. Can I go?"

In a silent response, both men released their holds on her as you silently stood up, "be right back, ok?"

"Alright and try not to get lost again."

She rolled her eyes, "that was one time, Dan Heng."

She didn't wait for his response as she made her exit down one of the hallways after weaving between a few of the tables. And the moment she got to the hallway? It felt like she could breathe.

"Finally! Some fresh air!"

Though, her exclamation was short lived when she bumped into someone, "ow," her yell was loud, and before she could fall back on her ass, she felt someone grab a hold of her waist to hold her steady.

"Sorry, y/n."

Huh? My name?

She opened her eyes to look up at the person she had run into. His eyes were a pure red, his hair black with a hint of dark teal. And his expression... he looked... he looked so sad. Without thinking or realizing what she was doing, she had reached up to his face, and her hand was gentle as she cupped his cheek. And she didn't fail to notice how he leaned into her touch ever so slightly.

"Who are you...," her voice came out as a whisper as she was simply starstruck by the person in front of her.

"Blade."

The single word that came out of his mouth matched her own quiet murmur, and without knowing the reason, that single name had her lip trembling.

"Blade?"

He lifted one of his hands. His index finger gently wiped her cheek. She blinked back at the sudden contact.

"Don't cry, angel."

Don't cry?

She stopped cupping his cheek and raised both of her hands to her face. And what met her fingers and palms were wet, heavy tears.

"Why- why am I crying? I- I'm so sorry- I don't know what came over me."

Blade had let go of her waist and took a step back. His eyes were watching her carefully as she tried to stop herself from crying anymore than she already had while also wiping away her tears. Though, soon enough, he closed his eyes and turned on his heel to leave, but before he could, he felt a small tug on his sleeve.

"Do we know each other?"

He shook his head, but she felt as if he was lying.

"Are you sure," she pressed.

Blade knew he had to let her go. Because against those two... he wouldn't be able to hold you.

"Yes..."

When he tried to leave again, she kept pulling at his sleeve. She didn't know why she was so insistent, so desperate to keep talking to this man, to this stranger, but she had to. She had to keep him close.

"I swear I know you from somewhere... oh! I know! When I would sing at the bar, you requested a song, right?"

"Never got the chance to."

She pursed her lips, and this time grabbed a hold of his hand instead of his sleeve, "well, then how about I sing for you now? Any song you want, right here."

Blade huffed, but even he couldn't stop the light smile from escaping his lips, "foolish girl."
