“Good morning ma.” All the children said.
“You all know who I am.” The woman said and some children gave her a positive reply.
“For those new here, I would like to introduce myself as the manager of this hospital.” The woman said.
I remembered Doctor Ambrose who told me that he would start my treatment today and looked down.
“Would Doctor Ambrose also stop treating me because I am a vampire?" I said to myself before listening to the woman.
“I would like to introduce each of the officials to you.” The woman said.
I looked up and saw a screen showing the woman who was speaking with the officials by her side.
My eyes met with my Uncle's face on the screen and I smiled.
“Mr. Bob Ryan.” I heard the woman call my Uncle and smiled.
Uncle Bob came out of the queue of officials and bowed his head.
“He is the Doctor for most of the people going insane.” The woman said.
I looked at the woman and remembered Dera.
“So it means my Uncle is Dera's doctor,” I said to myself and nodded my head.
The woman called out other doctors who came out smiling and the last Doctor she called was Doctor Ambrose. I smiled immediately when she called Doctor Ambrose.
“I hope he would treat me,” I said to myself before taking in a breath.
After that, the woman went out with the officials and we all went into the playroom.
I looked around the playroom before having my sit on the bed as I searched for Dera.
Minutes later, Dera entered the room and looked at me.
“Dera!” I called.
Dera took her face off me and I felt bad.
“Naomi might have told her to avoid me,” I said to myself.
Dera took a deep breath and sat beside me.
“I am sorry.” She said and I looked at her.
“Why are you sorry?” I asked her.
Dera looked at me and took another breath.
“I am sorry for acting weird after breakfast.” She said and I smiled.
“You don't need to be. I understand that is your predicament.” I said and Dera nodded and hugged me.
I smiled as she hugged me.
Minutes later, my name was being called and I looked up and smiled as I saw Uncle Bob.
“Uncle Bob!” I shouted and looked at Dera who smiled.
Uncle Bob pointed to Dera and me and we both went to meet Uncle Bob.
“I see that you and Dera are now friends.” Uncle Bob said and I nodded my head smiling as I looked at Dera.
“Doctor Ryan!” Dera called and I looked at her.
“Yes, Dera " Uncle Bob replied.
“Can I ask you a question?” Dera asked, and Uncle Bob nodded his head smiling.
“Doctor Ryan, who is Sophia to you?” She asked.
Uncle Bob smiled and cupped my face.
“Sophia is my sister's daughter.*,” Uncle Bob said and Dera nodded her head.
Uncle Bob turned to look at me.
“So you have a new friend.” Uncle Bob said smiling.
I looked down as I remembered Naomi.
Uncle Bob raised my face.
“Hey, calm down.” Uncle Bob said and I nodded my head.
“Can I tell you something?” I asked him and he nodded his head.
“Go on.” He said.
Dera looked at me with a smile.
“I told someone that I am a vampire,” I said.
Uncle Bob opened his mouth and knelt to my level.
“You aren't a vampire.” Uncle Bob said.
“That is me right,” Dera said and I looked at her.
“I told you, but you remained calm about it,” I said looking at Dera.
“If I may ask who was it?” Uncle Bob asked. “Did she make you feel sad?”
I nodded my head.
“Who did that to you?” Dera asked, looking at me.
I looked at her and then at my Uncle.
“It's Naomi,” I said with tears.
“Naomi,” Dera said and I nodded my head.
Dera looked at the floor and stepped on it.
“What happened?” She asked me.
“She decided not to associate with me again,” I said.
Dera smiled looking at me.
“She is a child.” She said.
I turned to look at my Uncle who kept his hands on his lip.
“Who is this Naomi?” Uncle Bob asked.
“I am.” We heard Naomi say from behind us.
Uncle Bob looked at Naomi and smiled.
“Hey!” Uncle Bob said.
Naomi looked at me and moved back. I gazed at the ground.
“I don't want to be associated with a vampire so that I won't become hyper.” She said.
Uncle Bob looked at me, then back at Naomi.
“She isn't a vampire.” He said.
Naomi looked at me and saw tears on my face. She walked closer to me and was about to hug me but I saw blood in her hand as she had injured. I pushed her away and turned to leave.
Uncle Bob walked to my front and I looked at him and then to Naomi. He nodded his head to me after seeing Naomi's hand and allowed me to go.
“Is she angry with me?” I could hear Naomi ask.
“No, she isn't.” I heard Uncle Bob say. “You should just give her time.”
Dera followed me into the playroom.
Uncle Bob waved to me and I waved back to him smiling.
I let out a sigh as I returned to the bed. Dera kept her hands around me.
“Have you heard that Naomi will be leaving us in a month,” Dera said and I looked at her.
I nodded and looked at Naomi as she entered the room and went to sit in a corner. I got up from the bed and held Dera up.
I went with Dera to Naomi taking a small cloth with me. I used the cloth to cover her injured hand so that I wouldn't see her blood.
I could still smell her blood so I looked away from her injured hand.
“You can still be my friend,” I said, and Dera happily hugged me.
“But…" I said raising a finger and Naomi looked at me. “Your injury has to heal before I accept you back as my friend.”
Naomi nodded her head and I ran to sit on the bed as I couldn't take the smell of her blood anymore.
