Scylla 29: Ceremony

I spoon the red velvet cake in front of me and taste it, the combination of dark chocolate and cream explodes in my mouth in an instant. It's delicious but it's lacking something. As I figure out the missing taste, I suddenly remember that it's been so long since the last time I baked. I should visit the kitchen once I go back to the estate.

“Will you attend the sol festival later, Your Grace?” Lady Vionella asked. I divert my attention from the cake and look at her.

Sol festival? Is it today?

“Probably, since all the officials are required to attend,” She answered, bahagya namang tumango si Vionella sa kaniyang sinabi.

Ano bang meron sa Sol festival na 'yan? As far as I know, we just need to attend the main palace because the temple will visit and the high priest will bless the empire by the blessing of the sun god. Bukod doon ay hindi kona alam, noon naman kasi habang nakatira pa ako dito ay nababalitaan kona ang Sol festival na dinaraos tuwing kada-limang taon dito sa imperyo, but I don't have the privelege to attend.

“How about you all, will you attend?” I asked. Lady Sabrina immediately answered her, saying she would attend the ceremony later since her family is a part of the 5 dukedome.

Marami ring kababaihan ang nagsabing dadalo sila sa nasabing seremonya, pagkatapos non ay napunta naman sa mga susuotin nilang mga dress ang kanilang topic. Everyone is excited to doll up, they're already thinking what look they should do.

“By the way, I heard all the prince will attend,” Lady Ivory said and some of the ladies squealed in excitement, you could almost see their eyes turning into the shape of heart.

Besides fashion, nothing excites them more than the bachelors of the empire. I can't blame them though, they need to look for prospective husbands since they're already at the right age to get married.

“I hope I can see Prince Dawn," Lady Penelope dreamily said while her hands clasped tightly like she was wishing.

“I'm looking forward to seeing the Crown Prince Zacharius,” Smiling widely, Lady Vionella said, gaining a quiet tease from the other ladies.

I looked at Lady Vionella at my peripheral view, I didn't know she has also a side like this. Kanina pa kasi ito tahimik at nakikinig lamang sa pinaguusapan ng ibang kababaihan, kung sasali man ito sa usapan ay tungkol sa mga bagay na may kinalaman ang pananamit at pag-aayos.

I guess all people are fonded of the idea of love or being in love, or the idea of having crushes. As for me, I'm not interested in that kind of thing. I had already given up those ideas long ago. Besides, not everyone fits into the concept of marriage or relationship. Not everyone has a calling to be a parent, but that's okay. We all live with a different purpose in life, the world does not revolve around that anyway.

“I swear to all the gods, Prince Zacharius is indeed majestic! Have you seen how gorgeous he is with that blond hair? He's shining under the sun!” One of the ladies explained exaggerated. I watch how they giggle and release a carefree laugh, they're all enjoying their topic.

“And of course, you can't forget the crow of the North, Prince Achlys!”

Crow of the North? What's with that pet name. Mas lalo namang napuno ng hagikhikan ang lamesa ng masabi ang Prinsepe ng Norte, it looks like he's the darling of the crowd. Naalala ko bigla ang sinabi sa'kin ni Seven noong nakaraang linggo, inaalam ng Prinsepe ang impormasyon tungkol sa'kin.
