Scylla 37: Damn Nobles

I woke up with my head throbbing in so much pain and soaked in my sweats. I was propped up in my bed with a collection of pillows around me. My eyes were tightly shut since every time I tried opening it, it would ache so bad.

I couldn't seem to focus my senses, everything was just hazy and blurry to me.

I don't know what exactly happened, but all I could hear was the small commotion happening in my room before I succumbed to complete darkness.

“Why are you so hard-headed? I told you to always take a rest and don't forget to eat! Now, look at you, you caught a fever!”

Just like exactly before I passed out, I don't know how much time had passed since Sovanna started to lecture and nag me about my health.

My eyes landed on the few individuals who were watching us with wide eyes and mouth slightly gapping, it's like they've seen something shocking or entertaining. They may find it amusing that Sovanna can lash out at me like this.

I am quite amused that she can do this to me and I'm just letting it.

“I suggest to let the Duchess rest. She was probably exhausted and stress, Your Highness,” Doctor Novanchéz said, my person healer. Bigla namang nanahimik si Sovanma nang mapansin ang mapanauring tingin sa kaniya na binibigay nito.

Due to lacked of sleep and proper rest, plus I've been so stress lately, I caught a flu. Well, I've already expected this, pero akala ko ay kakayanin kopa hanggang dulo nitong linggo, kaso bumigay na agad ang katawan ko kagabi. I overestimated myself.

“Estelle, did you have the report?” I asked, kahit sa pagsasalita ay hinihingal ako at mistulang kinakapos ng hangin. Naglakad ito sa gawi ko ng may seryosong mukha.

“Aren't the doctor suggest that you should rest, Master? Let me handle your remaining work,” She replied while one of her eyebrows was slightly arching.

Hindi kona sinagot ito at nanahimik, wala rin namang silbi kung ipipilit kopa. Base na rin sa mga tingin na pinupukol sa'kin ni Sovanna at Estelle.

In the following days, all I did was just rest in my room. Sovanna also planned to stay here in the estate for a while so she could take care of me, or more on check on me if I'd do something.

Bahagyang bumaba na rin ang lagnat ko, I can now perfectly stand without losing my balance because of dizziness. Hindi ako sanay na nakahiga lamang at walang ginagawa. I feel like I'm wasting my time by resting that's why the moment I feel a slight bit of being fine, I immediately stand up from my bed to go out.

My room is getting stuffy anyway, I need to take a breather.

Nagulat pa ang ibang servant nang makasalubong ako sa corridors, but they just bowed their head and pretend they didn't see anything. I quickly reached my office and saw Estelle sitting beside my working table and doing all the work for me.

I released a fake cough to get her attention which I succeeded, her eyes were shocked when she saw me standing on the door frame.

“Master, what are you doing here? You're supposed to rest.”

“I'm good now, don't worry. What's with those scrolls?” I walked towards my table with towering paperwork and scrolls, like usual.

Estelle squinted her eyes at me as if she did not believe what I'd said. I just shrugged my shoulders and didn't mind her questioning look. They can't force me to stay another boring day in that room, I'd rather overthrow the Emperor than waste my time staring at the ceiling.
