It had been about twenty minutes before we finally heard Pope's signal through the intercom.
"Repeat. All hands and all passengers report to the tween forward hull immediately." The voice, which we can assume was the captain's, said over the intercom.
"They did it! They took the bridge." John B smiled, as he looked over at JJ, Kie and I.
"That's our boy." JJ added, as he and John B reached for the grate to remove it from the vent. "Alright, once they're all in the hull, Ri and I will lock them inside."
"I'll find Sarah and get the lifeboat." John B added.
"And I'll find Pope and Cleo. We'll meet you, load the cross and get outta here." Kie sighed.
"Alright, let's roll." I smiled, as JJ gave me a hand and helped me climb through the vent.
After we split up from John B and Kie, JJ and I hurried towards the forward hull to trap the crew and passengers.
"Hey, what the hell is this all about?" We heard a man's voice echo from down the hall. JJ and I were stationed around the corners by the forward hull, waiting to make sure everyone was inside.
"This doesn't have anything to do with that stowaway, does it?" Another man added.
"Guess we'll find out." The third man replied.
"Psst." JJ whispered to me from across the corner. "How many?" He mouthed. I replied by holding up the number three on my fingers.
"It's got something to do with that cross." One of the men's voices added. "I'm telling you, it's cursed. We're making God angry." JJ and I peered from around the corner, as we watched the men walk into the forward hull.
We heard voices murmur from inside the hull.
Still waiting for the captain.
He's supposed to be down here.
Just then, I heard a familiar voice from down the hall.
"Where are we going? Where's Dad?" The voice asked. It was Wheezie. Shit. Why did Wheezie have to be brought into this? It made me miss Amber, and feel even more guilty for leaving her back home.
"I don't know, Wheezie." I heard Rose reply. I peered around the corner to see Rose, Wheezie and Rafe walking towards the hull, before quickly turning back around to make sure Rafe didn't see me. I held my breath until I was sure he was gone.
"J, that's all of the crew." I whispered, as I looked over at him.
"Except Ward. We need Ward." He replied.
"We can't wait." I sighed. He rolled his eyes with an 'yeah-you're-right' attitude, and motioned for us to start locking everyone in.
We ran from around the corner and immediately shoved the door closed, putting our backs into it to fight against the force coming from the men pushing against us inside.
"Close it! Close it!" JJ shouted, as he and I shoved the door closed.
"Lock it!" I grunted, as JJ grabbed the lock.
"Check the other door!" We heard a man from inside yell.
"There's another door! There's another door!" JJ shouted.
"Go!" I cried, as he ran towards the other door down the hall, and I continued to lock the door. After I finished locking the door, I ran behind JJ and helped him shove the second door closed. The men were shouting inside, yelling for someone to let them out. But we didn't have time for that. It was time to get the cross.
