Crossroads | Sookai

Chapter 8

The sun shined brightly on a certain pair of boys who were making their way to class. Huening Kai was especially excited since he liked the idea of being able to have lunch with his favorite people. now including Soobin. The duo walked into class and sat at their usual spot, this time being greeted by their three older friends. They waved at them and Soobin made eye contact with Kai, giving him a dimpled smile along with a wave. The younger chuckled and returned the smile along with the wave. They took their seats and looked forward, seemingly to make it just right when the professor was beginning his lecture. Luckily their lesson that day wasn't anything too difficult so class breezed by pretty quickly. When the professor dismissed class, Taehyun quickly turned around to the others and caught their attention.

"Hey are you guys doing anything after this?" The boys looked at each other and back at the younger, shaking their head.

"Well I talked to Huening about this yesterday but how about we have a group lunch? We haven't had one in awhile and since Soobin got to know Kai too, we an go us five," Taehyun explained.

"Why not? and you guys?" Yeonjun looked to the other boys next to him. Soobin nodded immediately.

"How can I turn it down? Let's go now, yeah?" Said Beomgyu

 The five of them left the classroom and made their way to their campus food court. It was a large outdoor area with a lot of small restaurants, such as cafes or taco places. There was even some food stands that sold quick food such as hotdogs and drinks. They found an empty table and took a seat 

Beomgyu stood up. "I'll get the food, what do guys want?" 

The other four looked at each other before Taehyun spoke up. "I've been craving tacos recently,"

Yeonjun chimed in. "Me too! Should we get tacos for all of us?" He looked to Soobin and Kai, to which they gave a nod in return. 

"Can someone come with me to help get the food?"

"I can," said Soobin who got up to go with Beomgyu to get the group's food. Huening Kai sighed as he thought the older was sweet for wanting to help out Beomgyu. He turned to the other two and started to talk to them while they waited for their food.

"I think my brains gonna fry with the amount of assignments Professor Kim has been assigning..." complained the eldest there. 

Kai nodded in agreement as he let out a huff. "He gave us so much textbook work...and for what??? Even the other film students made it past our unit while we were still stuck in the cinematography unit."

Taehyun widened his eyes. "The other students made it past cinematography???"

Kai nodded, annoyed at their professor. Yeonjun was about to add on to their polite bashing but Soobin and Beomgyu returned, laughing hysterically as they held all their plates. Yeonjun looked worried about their food falling so he jumped out of his seat, ran to them, and grabbed some of the plates. They made their way over to the table and Beomgyu finally spoke up.

"Guys, you will not believe what happened-" he laughed for a bit and took a seat before he continued.

"We put Soobin's name for the order and they somehow heard 'Steve' and so they called out 'Steve' waiting for us to get our food," Soobin hit his arm as he took his seat between Beomgyu and Kai.

"It wasn't that funny," he said, holding back a small laugh. The rest of them laughed at their ridiculous story but one of them found it less funny that the rest. It's not like Huening Kai didn't find the story funny, but seeing Soobin with Beomgyu made him realize their closeness and he felt...upset by it? He gently slapped his cheek trying to snap himself out of it and trying to enjoy the group lunch more.
