Chapter 11

Later that night, Huening Kai sat at his desk with his notebook, pencil, and textbook in front of him. But rather than doing his homework, he made better use of his time by watching the finale of his favorite K-drama. To say the least, it had a very emotional ending and Kai was a mess, almost sobbing. But suddenly, he was getting a call. He frowned, wondering who dared interrupt him while watching the long-awaited finale. He checked the caller, immediately smiling at the name. He wiped his tears, cleared his throat, and picked up the call.

"Hello?"

"Hi Hueningie! Are you busy right now?" Kai's mind wandered back to the finale but for Soobin, he was willing to postpone it for a little bit.

"Nope, why?"

"Well, I've been wanting to ask you something..." Soobin's voice turned more quiet. why made Kai start to feel more nervous.

"Yeah?"

"I was wondering if you're busy tomorrow..." Soobin was trying his best not to shy away, he was also wondering where the confidence from earlier went but before he could overthink more, the younger boy responder.

"No, how come?"

He took a deep breath as he prepared his question. "I was wondering if you wanted to go to our campus fair tomorrow, I heard the foods good and...uh-"

"I'd love to!" Kai interrupted, sensing the older's nervousness. He felt giddy inside but he was trying hard not to make it obvious through his voice, which luckily he seemed to be doing a good job of.

The older sighed in relief. "Great! Wanna go around 5?"

"Sounds good,"

"Okay, I'll pick you up at your dorm around then?"

Huening Kai started to smile. "Yeah, so I'll see you there tomorrow?" 

Soobin nodded, but then he forgot he was calling Kai so he quickly tried to respond. "Y-yeah- See you tomorrow!" He said quickly as he hung up. 

He face-palmed himself for trying to nod and for panicking at the last second. But he quickly set that aside, remembering that at least he got Kai to go to the fair with him. He pumped his fist in the air in victory and went to his closet, starting to plan out what he's gonna wear for the special occasion

After Soobin hung up in a panicked manner, Kai chuckled to himself, finding it kind of cute but he couldn't stop himself from smiling. But as he thought about it more, he suddenly felt his face getting red. Wait...did he just ask me out??? And I didn't notice it???? He buried his face in his hands and laid back on his bed. He let out a sigh as he took his hands off his face. Oh my gosh...what am I supposed to wear tommorow??? Do I wear a button up- no that's too formal...He groaned in frustration but not too long after, his roommate walked in.

"Hey Huening did you finish the assignment for- wait you like a mess" Taehyun interrupted himself in suddenly realization after seeing Kai's face still slightly flustered from the moment before.

The younger sat up as Taehyun sat next to him in bed. "You weren't doing gross stuff were you?"

Kai scoffed. "What?! No! It's just that...I think Soobin asked me out..."

"He only asked you out now?? I thought your little coffee dates were already pretty solid." He pointed out but it was enough to make Huening Kai flustered again.

"T-those weren't dates they're just hangout..." He explained sheepishly. Before Taehyun had a chance to tease him more, Kai spoke up.

"ANYWAYSSS, I'm just struggling on figuring out what to wear tomorrow," He said. Taehyun chucked at Kai's sudden switch up with the topic but he decided not to push him on it.
