After Soobin dropped Huening Kai off his dorm, he walked him, finally relieved and feeling that he'd be able to sleep well that night. Or so he thought. Ever since his feelings for Kai deepened, it was giving him more of an excuse to leave the life he lives at night. It was pretty obvious the younger showed concern to the older every time he was injured and he didn't want to worry him anymore, especially since he was beginning to plan to ask him out. It was a big work in progress but he's still working hard on it.
As soon as he made it home, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He quickly reached for it and saw it was a call, but his mood sank quickly finding out who it came from.
He reluctantly answered. "Hello?"
"Ready for today's mission?" said the voice, rather excitedly.
"About that...I need to talk to you and the rest of the group, meet me at our alleyway."
The caller fell silent for a bit but responded. "Okay...we'll be there in a bit."
Soobin was quick to hang up but shortly after he felt his hands become shaky. He decided that today would be the day that he officially left his life at night. He was scared since they've been there for him ever since he was in high school, and now after all these years he would be leaving. The group has been commenting on how soft Soobin has become recently and how he isn't as ruthless as he used to be. Which is true. Ever since he started college he's been having thoughts about leaving, but ever since he met a certain boy, he was absolute on leaving. He also saw how worried Huening Kai got over his injuries and he wouldn't want to worry him anymore. He also didn't think he'd want to date him if he figured out he was part of the mafia so he knew what he had to do.
After walking a bit, he made his way to a familiar alleyway, one that he visited not too long ago. He felt his heart race as soon as he saw the other members of the group. Excluding Soobin, there were five people, but the most important was the vice leader, Wooyoung. He's known Soobin for the most amount of time but was the one who most noticed Soobin's recent change in attitudes.
Soobin walked up to the group. "Thanks for coming guys, now there's something I have to tell you guys..."
Wooyoung raised an eyebrow. "Well? Hurry we got a mission to carry out," he said rather lightheartedly
"About that, I won't be going,"
Wooyoung's slight smile immediately left and the lightheartedness from before quickly disappeared.
"What do you mean."
"As of today, I'm no longer your leader. I'm sure you guys have seen but I'm clearly not fit for it anymore. Maybe you guys are right that I've become to soft but...It's obvious I'm not meant for this anymore"
Everyone looked speechless.
"You're joking...right...?" Soobin shook his head.
"I'm not...but it's for the best,"
Wooyoung stepped back for a moment to process everything but suddenly started to chuckle.
"Wow...and you're leaving just like that??? After everything we went through???"
Soobin tried to speak up but he quickly felt sharp pain on the side of his eye. He looked up and saw Wooyoung was furious and was about to throw in another punch but luckily the other members held him back.
"YOU TRAITOR, YOU THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY EASY???"
"Look I-"
He tried to speak up but one of the underlings interrupted him.
"Just go if you don't wanna get hurt more!"
Soobin looked at him for a moment and nodded, begging in to run in the other direction. He didn't look back but he heard Wooyoung yelling in the distance. He really wanted to leave things off on a good note since they've been friends for a while, but things don't always go in a straight path, right?
