The two of them sat quietly for a moment on the slightly rusted bench, it was as if time stopped around them. Soobin had to take a moment to process everything. After taking everything, finally pulled Huening Kai into a warm hug.
"You really mean it???" The older asked. He was beyond overjoyed.
Kai hugged him back, a smile appearing on his face. "Of course! This isn't something I would take so lightly," He reassured.
They sat in a comfortable silence, just enjoying their moment as a new couple. The colorful lights shined around them along with the sound of laughter, distant music, and the sound of people's frustrations with the totally not rigged games. Suddenly, the younger started laughing, which made Soobin pull back bit, just enough to face him.
"What's so funny," Soobin frowned with a slight pout.
"Sorry, but it's kinda funny to think that we had our first kiss and you asked me out over expensive fries and a kinda gross bench," He teased to which the older scoffed in return.
"Well I think it's pretty romantic...as long as it's with you" Soobin smiled sweetly, totally not firing back.
Kai felt his face flush as he looked down. "S-Soobin...that's so cheesy..."
"Yet you're still flustered by it," He smirked.
"I-uh-the Ferris wheel! Didn't you wanna go on it???" Kai rushed to change the subject. Soobin looked at him adoringly but nodded.
"Yeah, wanna go now?" The younger nodded
"Wait what about the fries?" He gestured to the fries that were between them this whole time.
"Oh they're cold and soggy now we can just toss it." He stood up, Taking the fries to a nearby trashcan and throwing them away. He went back to the younger and offered his hand.
"Let's go?" The younger looked up at him and smiled, taking his hand and holding his bunny plushie with the other. They make their way to the Ferris wheel and waited in line. After a while,
Soobin leaned his head on Huening Kai's."I'm so happy you agreed to go out with me..." He said softly, nuzzling his head against his.
Kai glanced at him, his heart swelling by how sweet he was. "Me too Binnie..."
Before long, it was their turn to ride the Ferris wheel and they walked into a cart, hand in hand. The Ferris wheel slowly turned up but when they made to the top, they were greeted by a cold breeze. They looked down to see the colorful lights of the carnival and even the lights of their town.
"It's so pretty..." Said the younger, in absolute awe of the view.
Soobin looked at Kai adoringly, failing to hold back a smile at the sight of him enjoying the sky view. "Yeah...very pretty..."
Kai looks to Soobin and gives him a soft smile, mirroring the older's. They slowly lean in and softly kiss, sending butterflies to both of their stomachs. But suddenly, they feel the Ferris wheel jolt to a stop, along with its lights turning off. They quickly pull away and look around.
"Did it stop...?" Kai said, confused.
"I think so..." Soobin sighed as he looked over the edge, slightly nervous about being so high in the sky. He scooted closer to Kai and clutched his hand tighter.
The younger noticed Soobin hold his hand tighter and looked at him. "You okay?"
He nodded. "Yeah...I'm just not too good with heights..."
The cold wind blew past them, which sent a shiver to the older. He was focused on trying to stay calm until he felt Kai's head on his shoulder and the heat radiating from him, which he found very comforting.
"It's okay, I'm sure they'll fix it in no time, but hey, at least we get a better view of the stars," he pointed to the sky that was filled with many stars. He couldn't tell if half of them were satellites or planes but nevertheless, the older couldn't help but smile at the gesture. He leaned his head on Kai's as they admired the stars.
"They're pretty, but not as much as you," the older smirked.
Huening Kai scoffed. "You're on a roll with your cheesy flirting..."
The older smirked before he let out a light chuckle. "Jokes on you, you'll like me anyways,"
"Can't argue with that, unfortunately" Kai sighed. His defeat led the older to laugh again as he wrapped his arms around the younger's waist, giving Kai butterflies in his stomach. By that point, Soobin had already forgotten they're stuck in the air until suddenly they heard and entire roar and the Ferris wheel lights turn back on.
"Well that wasn't so bad was it?" Huening Kai looked to Soobin with a smirk, making the older mirror his expression.
"Yeah...as long as I'm with you,"
They sat in a comfortable silence until they made it to the bottom, where they were greeting by the operator apologizing profusely for sudden delay. They quickly left and began to make their way to the exit of the fair, Soobin's arm around Kai's shoulders with his bunny plushie in his arms.
"At least our first date is pretty memorable," Soobin brought up.
Kai laughed in return. "And I can't wait for more to come,"
They made their way to the exit, happily taking their leave, but not noticing a man behind them, observing them from afar.
"So that's the reason he left...this is interesting..."
