Today was the day Taehyun would begin preparations for their anniversary surprise. His plan was to transform the dorm's terrace into a romantic haven, with candlelight and a beautifully set table for an intimate celebration under the stars.

Knowing he wanted everything to be flawless, Taehyun began reaching out to florists, bakers, and caterers. However, balancing the surprise with his packed schedule—practices, MCing, photoshoots, and TXT's upcoming comeback—was already proving to be overwhelming.

While on a video call with Chaeryeong, Taehyun was interrupted by Kai, who appeared in the doorway. "Hyung, someone's here looking for you," he said. Taehyun suddenly remembered he'd asked the florist to stop by to discuss the arrangements.

"Chaeryeong, I'll be right back," he said with a smile before heading for the door. Naturally, Kai took this opportunity to sit down and chat with her.

"Hello, Noona! How are you?" Kai greeted with his usual cheer.

"I'm doing well! How about you guys? It must be crazy busy with the comeback," Chaeryeong replied.

"Oh, we're managing, but Taehyun-hyung is especially busy," he said, emphasizing dramatically.

"Oh, really? With what, exactly?" she asked, intrigued.

"He's been missing you all day and night," Kai teased, causing Chaeryeong to blush and laugh in surprise.

"Seriously! And, by the way, he keeps your necklace in his bag," Kai continued, fanning the flames of her curiosity.

"Wait, really? I didn't know that. Which necklace?" she asked, feeling both flattered and puzzled.

"The gold one with the heart and moon charms on it," Kai replied with a grin.

Chaeryeong paused, perplexed. She didn't recall owning any necklace like that. Just as she was about to ask Kai more, Taehyun returned, and Kai quickly slipped away. Taehyun had to end the call to attend to a few other urgent matters, leaving Chaeryeong deep in thought about the mysterious necklace.

Days passed, and Taehyun's calls became increasingly infrequent. Initially, Chaeryeong brushed it off, knowing he must be busy. Yet, the growing distance felt strange; they usually managed to connect for at least a few minutes each day. She tried to quiet her doubts, not wanting to overthink things as she had in the past.

In reality, Taehyun was exhausted, juggling endless responsibilities and the surprise preparations. Meanwhile, Taeri had been unusually clingy, often lingering around him, which had already sparked gossip among the staff.

One day, while getting ready, Taehyun found the necklace Kai had mentioned buried in his bag. Assuming it had accidentally been placed there by a stylist, he set it aside on the vanity, thinking it might belong to one of the female idols.

Almost immediately, Taeri appeared, eyes lighting up as she spotted it. "Oh my gosh, Oppa! You found my necklace! I've been searching everywhere for this," she exclaimed, grabbing it from his hands. Taehyun gave her a puzzled look, wondering how it had ended up in his bag in the first place. However, a few staff members nearby overheard their exchange, fueling the rumor mill even further.

Back at their dorm, Chaeryeong was relaxing in Yeji's room when she received a call from Jini, her new friend from NMIXX.

"Hi, Yeji unnie! Hi, Chaeryeong!" Jini greeted. The three started chatting about random topics until Jini's tone turned conspiratorial.

"Okay, girls, guess what! I've got some fresh tea from the K-pop world," Jini said excitedly, piquing their curiosity.

"Our manager told us that while she was at Music Bank the other day, she overheard that Taehyun sunbae had the necklace of Taeri, the '4th Gen It Girl,' in his bag. Plus, with their photos floating around, everyone's speculating they're dating!" she spilled. Having recently debuted, Jini wasn't aware of Chaeryeong and Taehyun's relationship.

Chaeryeong felt as if someone had driven a knife into her heart. Her mind swirled with confusion and disbelief, and she could feel her world beginning to unravel.

Sensing her distress, Yeji quickly made an excuse to end the call and wrapped her arms around Chaeryeong. "Chaeryeong, please don't overthink this. They've been working together recently. It was probably just a mix-up, and I know Taehyun wouldn't do anything like that," she reassured.

Chaeryeong replied quietly, "He's been calling me less and less these past few days," her face blank with uncertainty.

"Don't worry; I'll ask Yeonjun about it tomorrow. I'm sure there's an explanation," Yeji promised.

That night, Chaeryeong cried herself to sleep, her heart heavy with unanswered questions.

The next morning, Yeji called Yeonjun. "Yeonjun, has Taehyun been acting strangely or spending a lot of time with Taeri?"

"No, not at all. Honestly, he's annoyed by her. She's the one always hanging around him," Yeonjun replied.

"But why are you asking?" he asked, sounding concerned.

"Rumors are getting to Chaeryeong, and she's feeling the strain. She mentioned he's been distant lately," Yeji explained.

Yeonjun sighed, "Look, Taehyun's just been busy planning a surprise for their anniversary. But please, don't tell Chaeryeong. He wants it to be a secret."

Yeji felt a wave of relief wash over her. "Thank you for letting me know."

She conveyed the reassuring message to Chaeryeong, even prompting Taehyun to call her that day, which helped put Chaeryeong's mind at ease.

However, unbeknownst to them, someone had discovered Taehyun's plan—and they were determined to ruin everything.
