Vlad

I just knew there had to be a catch somewhere and I found it.

"When I joined the mercenaries, I had to make a blood oath with Corvina and Corvinus." he revealed. I gasped at the news, because if blood is involved, then it must be something powerful and dangerous.

"This oath was preventing me from disobeying their orders. If any of the twins wanted me to do something, I had to, my body would not allow me to not do it, I could only think of not doing it, but the intent was to follow their lead." he divulged looking disheartened. "Because of this oath I missed when you were taken from the castle, Corvina had sent me to find his slut of a brother." he admitted looking miserable, his fists clenching on his thighs and I could see his rage increasing at the memory. "I'm so sorry, Vlad! I should have been there for you and that fucker wouldn't have laid a finger on you. I'm so sorry!" he said with so much sorrow in his voice, his face downward.

We were close enough so I grabbed his cold fists and stroked him gently. "Calum, there's nothing to be sorry, you did get to me eventually and now I am the happiest I have ever been." I told him, hoping to make him see just how fantastic he was making me feel.

"But it shouldn't have happened, it was all because of that fucking Corvinus, I hate him!" he spat, all his hate revealed. His eyes were glaring at the table we had beside us, as if it was Corvinus. "Calum, look at me please." I asked him, my voice calm and sweet. When we made eye contact I spoke slow and steady "I am here with you and you make me very happy." while squeezing his fist and trying to calm him and I soon saw him relax, his eyes gentle again.

"Yeah, you're right" he said, smiling a little and made a small nod, but he wasn't glad about it, I knew it.

"But..." he added. "I still need to get rid of that oath. If we ever cross paths with them in the future, I must be free of it, otherwise...." he said with a sigh, not finishing his sentence, but I knew it was not a good thing if he was to meet them. He kind of run away, took a prisoner and killed a vampire, so they must not be too happy about it, this must have pissed them to say the least.

"Do you know how to break the oath?" I asked him curious.

"Yes, but It's no rush now. They can't find us here, I made a powerful protection spell around the area." he assured me and grabbed the hand I had on his and brought it to his lips and kissed it softly.

"Now I just want to focus on us, ok?" he pleaded and I smiled and nodded at him, smiling at his wish, liking that a lot.

We stood there and talked about other things, he told me about the missions he had, what he liked or disliked about them. I found out he had to do a lot of killing he was not ok with, some of their targets being just innocent souls that had pissed more powerful people, but he had to follow with his orders because of the blood oath. It had me thinking, if this pledge was so strong to make him silently obey agains his will, what will it do to him if he tries breaking it? Will it harm him? Leave something permanent or....has the possibility to kill him?

I must not have these thoughts, I trusted Calum, he knew what he had to do.

After we went back inside, Calum offered to prepare lunch and I just wondered around the house, looking closely at what Calum made, contemplating and tapping my chin with my finger. I felt like... hmm... something was missing.

"Calum, when you said I could make this house a home, what did you had in mind? Something specific or me just existing is enough?" I asked puzzled. It appears that I was very funny, because Calum bursted out laughing.

"You are hilarious, Vlad!!" he barely managed to say. He took deep breaths to calm himself and I was just rolling my eyes, pff...

"Funny or not, you didn't answer my question." I said very serious in the matter, I needed to know. "All right, all right. To be honest, for me you being here it's all it takes, but if you feel you should add or change something, I would gladly help you make it happen." he replied, while cooking, his back at me. I came closer to him, admiring his broad shoulders and straight stance... and his butt. He was chopping some cucumber to make a salad and I sneaked to snatch a piece and snack on it.
