Chapter 40

    Calum

"Our creator wants you back in our world, Calum." he told me and I swear on my life... um, death, barely life, mostly death... aaahhh, fucking shit, I swear on whatever the fuck this is that what he told me is a real secret, like only him and... the creator, whoever, know about it.

I am not gonna lie, this sounds so fantastic and absolutely wild, like very, very, very hard to believe, but I was dead and talking to the voice I heard in my head for 13 years, so... maybe, just maybe this was not as crazy as it sounded.

"I beg your biggest pardon?" I asked astonished, almost dropping my holly whiskey to the ground, but I caught it in time, thank the dead... I mean me...

He chuckled shaking his head and took another sip of whiskey, his body relaxed once again in the armchair.

"You did not disappoint, Calum, so you get to fulfill your destiny." he told me solemnly, a proud look on his face.

"Are you fucking talking in riddles? What is that even supposed to mean?" I asked not wasting a breath, because I was even more confused than a minute ago.

"I don't know all the details, but the information I have, I will give it to you." he said and put one leg over the other and rested his tilted head on his fist. He looked so poised and quite attractive, I bet his fated was all over him. I hope he will tell me about this part of his life, he was so intriguing.

"Let's just say that because I was the first of my kind, me and our maker have a special bond, we kind of connected and kept in touch over the millennia.
At first, all was well and good in this world, the world our maker created. We were happily all living together, even though we rarely partnered outside our species. As time went by, we slowly started separating ourselves by the species to the point where we had been completely isolated from one another. The difference between us kind of caused a rift, each of us developing our own society, traditions and ways of living. Our creator was not happy with this, but if that was what we wanted and made us have a good life, then he would let us function like that. As you can imagine, only a handful of people had the opportunity to meat its maker, but unfortunately... I am, now, the only one left." he said and cleared his throat.
"Around 40 years ago, things changed and some leaders, the shifters and supernaturals more specifically, started disrupting the balance and wellbeing we all had maintained for more than two thousand years.They began swapping members of their species, to make use of their abilities and powers. It would have been alright if the ones being exchanged would have agreed to it, but they hadn't, not once had they agreed to be used like that. They were made slaves, no rights whatsoever. Because of the torture and extreme abuse, slowly but surely, the number of deaths increased at an alarming rate and about 20 years ago, our creator decided to step in and put a stop to this madness.
  He was aware of what had been going on, but he honestly hoped that the ones involved would see the harm they were causing, and stop at some point, but they didn't, and with each passing year it got even worse and they even started a fake war to better cover their tracks among the realms.
Sadly, there are laws we all have to follow, so our creator had no choice, but to pick two representatives, who would make the world a better place sometime in the future. He designated four possible pairs of two people, that he and I would watch closely to make sure they are the perfect fit. Out of those four choices, only one remained and now the future of the world as we know it lies in the hands of these two people.
You, Calum, are one of them." he confessed and fuck me, if that won't make one's brain glitch I don't know what would. I had always considered myself a smart individual, but I too had limitations and I think I reached and passed my limit. I bet Tzar saw the fumes my grey matter was making from processing the information and laughing his ass off internally.
