Percy POV:
The battlefield was a scene straight out of a nightmare, only with more teenage angst and less existential dread. Thanatos was chuckling to himself, clearly enjoying the chaos like it was the best reality TV show ever. Kiwi was desperately trying to fend off Sun and Sparkle, and Melon was busy making water do things I didn't even want to think about.
"Seriously, what is this? A demigod soap opera?" I yelled, trying to keep my cool as I dodged a wave of water that was aiming for my head.
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Focus, Seaweed Brain. We need to finish this."
"I'm focused," I grunted, slashing at a water spout that was trying to drown me. "On surviving!"
Kiwi POV:
I saw what was coming a mile away. Melon was getting more desperate by the second, and I couldn't afford to be taken down by these idiots. "Forget this," I said, summoning all the dark energy I could muster. "We're out of here."
Melon POV:
"Fine," I snapped, controlling the water to create a swirling portal. "I'm not sticking around for a cosmic joke."
The portal opened with a violent rush of water, and Kiwi and I dove through, leaving our enemies behind in a mess of wet chaos and dark energy. As we tumbled into the portal, I couldn't help but feel a twisted sense of triumph. We'd escaped, and now it was time to plot our next move.
Percy POV:
As Kiwi and Melon vanished through the portal, the immediate threat disappeared, leaving us standing in a soggy wasteland. I was soaked, exhausted, and frankly, a little bit delirious from the absurdity of the whole situation.
"Did we just get played by a couple of teenage demigods?" I asked, wringing out my shirt.
Annabeth looked around at the wreckage and sighed. "It sure seems that way."
As we stumbled through the mess left by Kiwi and Melon, it felt like someone had tossed our entire plan into a blender set on "maximum chaos." I wrung out my shirt, which was now more of a soggy towel, and gave a half-hearted attempt to shake off the muck.
"Anyone got a spare change for a laundromat?" I quipped, eyeing the ruined café.
Frank looked up from his futile attempt to clean his armor with a napkin. "I'd settle for a normal day for once. Or at least a day where things don't explode."
Hazel was inspecting a smoldering corner with a frown. "You know, if we keep this up, we're going to need a new hobby. Maybe something less... explosive?"
"Like knitting?" I suggested. "I hear it's very calming."
Frank chuckled, but his smile faded as he checked his gear. "I don't think we're getting out of this one without a fight."
Kiwi POV:
In the warehouse, Melon and I were reveling in our temporary victory. I couldn't help but feel a rush of triumph as I tossed aside the map we'd used for our hasty exit.
"Well, that went swimmingly," I said, eyeing the mess we'd left behind. "Did you see their faces when we bailed? Priceless."
Melon smirked, adjusting her water-bending technique to make the surroundings look like a proper villain's lair. "They're probably wondering what hit them. Or, more accurately, what washed over them."
I laughed, a bit too loudly. "I bet they're still trying to figure out if we're serious or just really bad at making friends."
Annabeth POV:
Back at the scene, we were regrouping and preparing to track down Kiwi and Melon. Frank was making a list of supplies, and Grover was trying to stay positive.
"Alright, team," Annabeth said, her voice steady. "We need to be smart about this. Kiwi and Melon are unpredictable, so let's get moving before they come up with their next big plan."
Grover nodded, plucking a few notes on his flute. "I'll play a cheerful tune to keep our spirits up. Nothing like a little music to brighten up the apocalypse."
"Do you have a song for impending doom?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Grover grinned. "I'm working on it. It's called 'The End is Nigh, But at Least We Have Snacks.'"
Sun POV:
As we prepared to leave, Sun's trident was practically vibrating with frustration. "Let's get to Dwarka and regroup. I'd like to not have my trident turned into a glorified wet mop again."
Sparkle, wielding her veena-sword, smirked. "You know, Sun, if you ever get tired of hero work, you might have a future in stand-up. You're great at making everyone laugh while we're about to face certain doom."
Sun rolled her eyes. "Thanks, but I prefer to stick to saving the world. Laughter might help, but I'm not sure it's going to stop the end of days."
Thanatos POV:
I was wandering through the shadows, enjoying a brief moment of tranquility as I sipped my iced coffee. The chaos I'd stirred up was amusing, but now it was time to move on.
"Good luck, mortals," I said, tipping my coffee cup to the empty air. "You're going to need it."
As I disappeared into the gloom, I couldn't help but chuckle. "Let's see if you can survive the next act. I've got front-row seats to the spectacle."
Melon POV:
Back in our hideout, Melon was working on a new scheme, her water manipulation forming shapes of eerie, glistening monsters. I was pacing impatiently, ready for our next move.
"Do you think they're figuring out how to stop us?" I asked, eyeing Melon's creations.
Melon shrugged. "Probably. But we've got a few more tricks up our sleeves. And if they get too close, well... let's just say we're not exactly running out of ideas."
Hazel POV:
As we followed the magical trail left by Kiwi and Melon, I was feeling a bit grumpy. The entire day had been one disaster after another, and I was starting to feel like a walking catastrophe magnet.
"If we survive this," I said, "I'm going to need a vacation. And a new wardrobe. Preferably one that doesn't come with a side of apocalypse."
Frank laughed. "You're not the only one. I'm already planning a trip to a quiet beach—one where the biggest threat is a seagull stealing my lunch."
Percy POV:
With our team ready and our spirits (mostly) high, we followed Hazel's lead, preparing ourselves for whatever Kiwi and Melon had in store next. The air was tense but filled with a strange mixture of determination and dark humor.
"Alright, team," I said, rallying everyone. "Let's find those two before they get any more crazy ideas. And remember, if things go sideways, at least we'll have some good stories to tell."
