20. getting ready

it's 6pm, i've made it home 30 minutes ago, i brought the 3 boxes i have left to finish here so i can work on them home and bring it back monday. apollo is playing in his room and esmeralda is cooking.

i haven't talked to evan or claudia since monday, i didn't check on them, i didn't know if i should or not thinking they were mad at me. but today i decided to text the group chat.

hey guys, i hope your not mad at me for getting you guys suspended.

evan- no way, it was our idea to take you out, im enjoying staying home all week i got caught up with my show and stayed up all night drinking with nanny. this was awesome, jokes on miss rose

claudia- i'm not upset promise. i seen it coming

my punishment was a mountain of paperwork

evan- ooo special treatment

hell no, yall got special treatment you're having the time of you life at home while i catch up on everyone's slack.

evan- she wanted you to stay at work so she can watch you

yeah right, she barely bothered me all week

evan- speaking of, how are yall doing

i mean i guess things are good she's taking me out tonight.

claudia- oh snap, she's probably making it up to you.

evan- we're on our way.

i didn't see anther response back. i got up from my bed to find esmeralda in the kitchen.

"hey sis i gotta talk to you." i say as i sit on the kitchen table a few feet away from her standing in front of the stove

"whats up" she says still facing the stove

"so i haven't told you this because i didn't know where i stood in this situation but i guess i'm going on a date.

she stops stirring the pot and looked over her shoulder at me

"shut the fuck up" she says smiling

"what?"

"this is big, you haven't been out there since apollos been born. when was that? like 5 years ago! i thought you were asexual for a moment."

"huh?"

"who is the lucky man" she says speed walking to sit across from me on the kitchen table

"it's actually a woman"

she gasps. "wow sis i didn't know you swing that way" she says sounding interested

"i had an ex girlfriend before i met apollos father"

"i thought that was a phase" she responds

"me too, until i met christina"

"christina? sounds hot"

"anyway she's picking me up in 2 hours and i don't know where to even start."

"don't worry i got you" she says as she gets up from her seat to walk over to the stove to shut off the gas

i hear the door knock and she walks over to open it

"you have company sister" esmeralda says swinging the door open to let evan and claudia in

"i'm guessing y'all heard the news" esmeralda says to them once she closes the door behind them

"yes and we are here to doll our girl up" evan says with claudia's makeup box in his hand and claudia has a few dresses hanging from her arms.
