We stood outside a hotel, Five checked the invitation again to make sure we were at the right location then he grabbed my hand and we walked inside. We went up a set of stairs in the lobby and pressed the button for the elevator, once it arrived we stepped in and waited for the doors to close.
"Wait up." A hand stops the doors from closing and Diego walks in.
"Hold it." Then Allison joins us.
"Hey everyone." Klaus too, followed by Vanya.
"Excuse me." And finally Luther. Looks like everyone got the invitation.
"Good. We're all here." Five said, although it sounded sarcastic. The elevator doors finally close and we start heading up. Out of nowhere, this awful smell fills the very crowded box that we are in.
"Oh.." Allison says covering her nose with her cardigan.
"Jesus..." I gag and quickly cover my nose and mouth with my hand, as does everyone else.
"Luther!" Diego says. Of course it was Luther. Disgusting.
"Sorry, I'm nervous." He says, timidly.
When the doors finally open, everyone races out of the elevator to try and get some air. We entered a bar called the Tiki Lounge. It was bright and orange, there's fruit bowls and tiki masks and palm trees all around the room, a weird place to have a light supper.
"All right, when dad gets here, I'll do the talking, okay?" Five says as he heads to the big round table in the middle of the room.
"I've got a few questions for him myself." Diego says. Most of his questions are probably to do with the president.
"Hey, we don't wanna scare him off, all right. He might be able to help us stop doomsday, get us home."
"No, we need to figure out why he's planning to kill the president." And there it is.
"This is a matter of life and death, you imbecile."
"Okay, yeah, maybe we should take turns talking. Yeah?" Vaya says as we all start to gather around the table. She looks around her and picks up a conch shell off another table. "Here, whoever has got this conch shell gets to talk."
"Vanya, we don't have time for a debate, okay?" Five says, starting to sound pretty annoyed with all this back and forth. I take a seat at the table, also starting to get annoyed with all this back and forth.
"Maybe I should lead." Allison walks over to Vanya and takes the shell from her. "We all know I'm a better public speaker than the rest of you."
"Okay, Daddy's girl." Diego pipes back.
"Oh, jealous, number two?"
"Hey, no more numbers. No more bullshit. We're team zero. We're all team Zero."
"Ugh, Diego," Luther starts up again, "You don't have the conch."
"Oh god." I murmur, rolling my eyes. Diego smiles smugly then grabs the conch from Allison and launches it across the room. It shatters as it hits a wall.
"Classic." Allison shrugs and turns away.
Suddenly, the door flies open and an old man with a monocle, I'm assuming is Reginald, storms into the bar and heads around the table to take a seat.
"Not only have you burglarised my lab, set my chimp loose, conned your way into the Mexican consulate, repeatedly stalked and attacked me, but you have, on numerous occasions, called me..." Reginald rants on.
"Hey, pop, how's it hangin'" Klaus grunts as he sits down with a drink from the bar.
"...Dad." Reginald finishes. "My reconnaissance tells me you're not CIA, not KGB, certainly not MI5, so...who are you?" Everyone looks like they are going to speak but no one can think of anything to say.
