Alex's POV:

I sigh, shutting my laptop, feeling relieved to be finished with classes for the day. I pack up my stuff and walk out of the chemistry building, making my way back to my house.

As I walk inside, I hear music blasting, indicating to me that the girls are already getting ready for the game.

"I'm home!" I yell out, walking up the stairs.

I peak my head into Naomi's room to find her curling her eyelashes, already dressed in her uniform.

"Hi baby, how was class?" she asks me.

"Boring, terrible, hard, agonizing, and painful," I say, smiling at her.

"Sounds like a good time," she laughs.

I walk down the hallway into my room and start getting ready for the game. I do natural makeup, slick my hair into a sleek half-up half-down, and apply our signature red lipstick. I change into my uniform, careful not to ruin my hair or makeup, and throw on a zip-up and sweatpants over it.

"Are you guys ready?" Maggie calls out.

"Yes," I respond back.

We leave the house, beginning the walk over to Gampel for the first women's game of the season. We enter the arena, bypassing the line of fans, and head downstairs to the locker rooms. We all set down our stuff and took off all of our outerwear as we headed to our teams' warmups.

We quickly stretched, warmed up some tumbling and stunts, then went back to the locker room to get everything else we needed for the game. I grabbed my poms and walked through the tunnel out onto the court where both teams were warming up.

I watch the warmups and notice Paige sitting on the sideline. I shoot her a smile and a wave. She faintly smiles back at me, which is nothing compared to her usual big smile. I can tell she's feeling upset about not being able to play, and I feel for her, knowing that if I couldn't cheer I would be heartbroken.

Since the game hasn't started yet and the fans are still shuffling in, I decide to walk over to her, just to say hi.

"Hey," I say, taking a seat next to her.

"Hi," she smiles.

"You okay?" I ask, careful not to pry.

"Yeah, you know, just feeling a little bummed," she says, truthfully.

"I'm sorry," I say, empathizing with her. "You gonna watch me during the game?" I ask, trying to lighten the mood.

"How could I not watch you?" she says, smiling at me.

"Oh, I dunno, I'm veryyy captivating," I say, sarcastically.

"You are,"

I feel myself blushing and not knowing why.

"Good luck, Abrams," she says as I stand up.
