Paige's POV:

I'm sitting in the locker room, still trying to catch my breath after working on some shooting drills when I check my phone to see what I had missed while practicing.

Alex ❤️ a message

I lean back against the locker, staring at my phone for a second after Alex's text. A men's basketball mixer? It's been a while since I've been to one of those, and the thought of dragging everyone out tonight sounds fun, especially after a long day of drills and workouts. Plus, Alex is always a good time, and I know the rest of the team could use a night to blow off some steam.

I quickly fire off a text to the group chat:

Roomies 😎🏀👅💅🏽

Yo

Alex just invited us to a men's basketball mixer tonight at 9

Pregame at her house

Who's in?

Twin 👯‍♀️:

Hell yeah, I'm down

I could use a drink after this week 😤

Azzi 💕:

I'm in :)

Aubrey Griffin:

PREGAME ON DA PORCHHHHH

I smirk, pleased with the quick responses, and tuck my phone away. I start to pack up my things, running through the plan in my head. I'll head back to my room, shower, and pick out something to wear.

As I grab my bag and sling it over my shoulder, a small knot forms in my stomach. I can't help but think about how the night might play out—Alex has been teasing me all week, and while we've been getting closer, I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate whatever it is that's growing between us. Nights out together usually lead to more flirting, more teasing, and more of that tension that hangs in the air between us.

I shake my head, trying not to overthink it. It's just a mixer. Just another night out with friends. But as I walk out of the locker room and head toward the dorms, I can't help but wonder if tonight might be different.
