| AFTER COTILLION

THE morning had arrived, and to say Cassia was surprised after Jane told her what happened at Cotillion was an understatement. Cassia's mouth could only keep on falling after every detail that Jane had told her.

Uma?

Ben getting spelled?

Mal turning into a dragon?!

And Uma into a huge witch just like her mother?

Cotillion sure was filled with a lot of events, but thankfully everyone was alive and saved — after Uma almost sank the boat. Cassia was also happy that Ben and Mal fixed everything between the two of them, they deserved to be happy.

Cassia had gotten up extra early to be able to meet up with Ben for her canceled appointment. The king had agreed to meet up with her after Cotillion the day he was kidnapped, she thought he would want to cancel, but king duties couldn't be pushed further. And he owed her this meeting.

Though Cassia felt as if she didn't need to talk about her dreams anymore, she had met Harry and it only roamed through her head to ask Ben because she didn't know who he was back then, and why she was dreaming with him.

A knock was delivered on the door before Cassia opened it to see if Ben was in his office, the king sat on his chair with a Bluetooth piece on his ear reading paper after paper, everything was spread on his desk.

She remembered Jane had said something about how he wanted to give more VKs a second chance, maybe that was what was scattered on his desk, the names of every single other VK.

She wondered if Harry's would ever make it on the list.

As if. He was one of the people who was trying to destroy Auradon.

"Cass, come on in." The king removed his earpiece rising from his seat to greet Cassia, her hand extending as a motion for him not to do so.

"Hi." The girl murmured.

"Can I offer you something to drink? Eat?" Ben looked at the girl who was quick to shake her head, she wanted to be quick with this.

"No-no, thank you." She smiled taking a seat on the leather chair, she felt so far away.

"Okay, well, what can I do for you?" Ben placed his hands on the desk putting all his divided attention on the girl, Cassia swallowed appearing nervous.

"Uhm — So do you remember when you said you had dreamed with Mal even before meeting her?" Cassia looked at the king who nodded slowly trying to see where she was going. "I dreamed with someone, too."

"Really? Who?" Ben couldn't help but sound surprised, he thought that kind of thing only happened to him.

"I— prefer not to say right now." It wasn't that Cassia didn't trust Ben, she did, but she didn't want to get into much detail about it.

"Yes, of course." Ben sounded understanding. He wasn't going to push answers out of the girl if she didn't want to.

"I just wanted to ask how did you feel — when you met Mal." Cassia looked at the king straight in the eye when asking this.

"Oh—" Ben swallowed with a few blinks, it wasn't that he didn't remember how he felt, he was just taken aback that Cassia would be interested, "Well, I felt relieved knowing I wasn't crazy, it felt as if some sort of deja vu would happen, and of course I was nervous."

Cassia nodded at the sound of this. It was almost the same reaction she had when she finally met Harry, though she didn't feel the deja vu, that was only Ben.

"Did you — meet the person you dreamed with already?" Ben took precaution with his question, Cassia's eyes moved to the king from the sudden question, and he realized. "You don't... have to answer."

"Yeah, I met him. But unlike you, I didn't feel the deja vu, and I was so nervous I couldn't be near him." Cassia explained looking down at her hands, she had decided that she would be leaving out the part where her powers began to act out.

This could only give Ben a clue as to who the boy from her dreams could be, but the king decided to stay quiet not wanting to embarrass the girl. He liked that she came to him for advice, and he wasn't going to ruin it by revealing things she didn't want him to know.

"Well, It's normal to feel that way, but I'm sure if you guys see each other again it'll be different." Ben tried to sound positive, even if he knew that maybe that wouldn't be her case.

"I don't know." Cassia released. There was an awkwardness that grew in her, she didn't know what to say, so her next topic was to talk about the VKs, "Jane told me that you wanted to give more VKs a second chance."

Ben nodded, his eyes glancing at all the papers on his desk. "Yeah, the plan is to do four again and then keep adding. I'm thinking of starting this summer." Cassia nodded along, out of habit, she tried putting her hair behind her ear, but that motion was stopped as her hair was up in a ponytail. Oh, how she regretted the sudden action.

Dumb.

"And, would you just happen to give everyone a second chance?" Cassia's words were low, in an attempt to sound discreet, but the king knew where she was going with this.

She wasn't that good at hiding her thoughts.

"Yeah—" He let out a breathy laugh. "Everyone deserves a second chance, including the ones that keep making mistakes."
